Interesting !!!!!!!!!!

I think even if this did work, the minute gain (if any) wouldn't be worth my time! JMO!

x2. And then you have the chance on cracking the ground strap which will break off at a most inconvient time (7600 rpm).

The reason for this, I believe, is that the more sharp edges you have on a plug, the more spark you can get out of it. This is one of the reasons I use NGK or ND plugs. I can't remember the last time I used an american plug in a car.

ashbros 08-20-2009 09:35 AM

I never noticed NGK plugs were not made in USA. Goes to show you something as small as a spark plug isn't even produced in the states.

Its amazing.

TheYellaBrick 08-20-2009 09:38 AM

All that time and effort when you can buy plugs that are made better. Time is money and the infitisamal gain for a daily driver isn't worth it. IMHO

OneBadGMC 08-20-2009 09:39 AM

I'd sooner buy a better ignition system than screw around with drilling spark plugs.

THERATTLER 08-20-2009 09:52 AM

This sounds like something that might have been done before all the fancy plugs and ignition systems we have today, I just thought yall might get a kick out of it,,Paul :D

This is true, I remember doing all sorts of experiments to gain that extra edge. Aaahh,... the good old days of tinkering with the unknown....

FullTimeRacing 08-20-2009 10:02 AM

my :?: is if all those edges are so good why don't racing plugs have it ?

Never noticed that they were made in the godd ole USA. But I would never put Autolites in anything except the lawnmower. Thet remind me of Fram filters. Thanks Fram for blowing up my engine.

Back in the real early 80's we used to cut the strap off the plugs it would make a h*** of a spark they just didn't last very long.

But you're ok that the Big 3 make a good percentage of their cars in Mexico/Canada??? :? I'd venture to say that some of the 'foreign' auto makers are more domestic than the domestics!
