I'd find a chevy body or go with a slopar motor.

If you do choose to go with a chevy motor, goodluck, I'm sure it will be like putting a square peg in a round hole but then a again if you like doing lots of fab work, you've got the right project.

You say that...but I bet you are breaking out in hives JUST thinking about a small block chevy in there...LOL

CamBirdRacing 05-05-2009 03:08 AM

I race with a guy that has a 440 Mopar in a 64 Ford truck.

Harbone 05-05-2009 05:10 AM

if you are on a budget then find a mopar motor. you will spend a lot more money and time fabricating everything from motor mounts, trans mounts, etc. trying to make the chevy fit in the crab car...
just my opinion

blowninjected540 05-05-2009 06:29 AM

If you want to go fast stick with the chevy motor. LOL

suicidebomb 05-05-2009 06:37 AM

My cousin and I put a 455 Pontiac, in a Morris Minor woodie.... go for it.
It wasn't very practicle, but it sure was fun.

I972Nova 05-05-2009 07:18 AM

I have an 84 toyota truck with a Chevy motor in it. With Front motor plates and a midplate you could put a chevy in just about anything without too much hassle. I would guess that you will need less work with the sledge hammer than I did...lol....

mopar1968 05-05-2009 08:36 AM

I am ''tod'' ripping at the seams, biting my tongue, trying to find a nerve pill :!: :!:

txhunter69 05-05-2009 08:46 AM

haha well i think they might actualy do it because he loves the way that scamp look but nothing runs as hard or fast as a chevy in his opinion sorry "mopar  :P :!: "

mopar1968 05-05-2009 10:17 AM

No problem; You know what opinions are like? Everyone has one :!: :!:

toyota with chevy in it!! now i need a nerve pill, mopar got a spare :?: :P :P

I972Nova 05-05-2009 12:23 PM

A little ol Toyota motor wont spin my 33.5 x 16 hoosiers like the 360 does...

http://static.racingjunk.com/63/ui/3...8481693757.jpg

We are gonna put the 700 horse 408 in it for Pinks all out at Indy to get it in the low 10's. The little 360 only runs 11.2's and I dont think that will make the show...

i give a lot of credit to the guys that fit square pegs into round holes, its hard enough to make things work when there supose to work together. 8) 8)

mopar1968 05-05-2009 08:02 PM

They ask why a ''FORD'' in a ''CHEBBY'' his answer was that he wanted to go fast :!: :!:

chrisr 05-07-2009 05:23 PM

Those mopar guys don't want a chevy engine in a mopar because when it blows them away and everyone asks whats in it and they say a chevy, they will be like "oh so thats why it is so fast"
Actually I like anything fast, I just wanted to take a stab at mopar1968 8)

mopar1968 05-08-2009 10:09 AM

thats not really a mopar i cant recall the hemi ever having that much cubes. i bet nothing from a 426 would bolt to one of those blocks

dparker 05-08-2009 01:47 PM

Not much Chevy oem on a 565 either, and not very many people running a stock displacement BBC 454. Big Daddy ran a Hemi Mopar with as many Mopar parts as a lot of superpro racers have Chevy parts now. Hemi is still all that and a bag of chips.......sorry.

dparker 05-08-2009 01:48 PM

Oh wow!!!!!!!!!!! My 600 post now I'm a full fledged racing junkie..lol.

mopar1968 05-08-2009 04:21 PM

I do believe the top fuel hemi's are based on the 426, today's top fuel hemi is still the same design as the 426, Can anyone tell us what the correct cubic inches is for a top fuel hemi :?: I know the answer :!: A friend of mine has a old top fuel car in his garage, complete car :!: No cheating now on the answer :!: Parts on today's top fuel hemi is still interchangeable :!: If you can afford them :!: :!: :)

fla1976 05-08-2009 04:54 PM

Hemi

I'll take a guess, 499 cid.
I think 500 is the max and they would want to be safe from a disqualification.

kw89425 05-09-2009 03:52 AM

ok i dont see the original bag of chips being able to make 5000 hp or whatever they are making now. didnt they sell the rights of the 426 and somebody else made the hemi bad?

mopar1968 05-09-2009 06:00 AM

No they did not sell the right's, dodge is coming out with a 426 next year in the challenger,Keith black got permission from chrysler in 1967 to clone the engine, he then started making alunium blocks, made them stronger to make HP , other engine builders followed keith black in this process! So what is the correct cubic inches for todays hemi in a top fuel :?: :?: The most HP from a orginal 426 was around 2500 with blower,Don garlits in swamp rat 3 was pushing almost 3000 in factory block :!: :!:
