Be nice when you get it done, but G.M. never put a Chevy motor in a Pontiac in 1968. Sorry about that, I'm just a big Pontiac fan.

I am very aware gm never put a Chevy motor in a Pontiac.Ford didnt put Chevy motors in their cars either, but I see them all the time. :D My bird came with a Chevy motor when I got it,so I decided not to change a good thing.Especially when i dont have money to buy a Pontiac motor and trans back in it.I work with what I got, which seems fine to me.Im a Pontiac fan to,but also Chevy,so why not combine 2 things I like.LOL.Thanks for comments guys.

CamBirdRacing 04-02-2009 03:09 AM

That's cool, didn't mean to offend anybody, esp you. I have a 68 Bird that someone previously put a chevy in it. I had a 77 that rusted out and I took it apart to build the 68. Needless to say, I had to hunt down the motor mounts as someone had welded in the chevy mounts.

hotrod1024 04-02-2009 12:42 PM

No problem, :D you didnt offend me at all bud. There is no problem her. Thanks for compliments.Just wish I could finish sooner.LOL.

CamBirdRacing 04-03-2009 03:18 AM

took me 4 years to do mine. got married, bought a house, adopted my wifes son and had a 2 child (girl) during the build. Then I got divorced and remarried 6 years later and still have the car. Built my second wife a 71 Camaro and bought a bigger trailer, so we are doing good.

hotrod1024 04-13-2009 04:53 PM

Hey Rudy, you wouldnt happen to have a crossmember for a th350 for my Firebird would you?I noticed you like Camaros and was told a Camaro crossmember would work since I am running a Chevy motr and tranny.Just checking.Thanks.

CamBirdRacing 04-14-2009 03:17 AM

Should work no matter what engine you are running.

hotrod1024 04-14-2009 05:45 AM

The crossmember I have is for a Pontiac 400 trans and it is different from the one for a Chevy t350 that I need.

hollowayshotrods 04-15-2009 06:57 AM

hotrod,
I don't have an extra one, I don't think. I will have to look around a little and be sure. If I do have one, it will be yours for the cost of shipping. If I don't,,,,,,sorry!

Later

hotrod1024 04-15-2009 07:50 AM

No problem Rudy. Thanks for the effort.I found one in Pa but guy has not emailed me back.He said $50 shipped and i jumped on it.He was gonna ckeck ups and get shipping price to be sure and email me back last week.Havent heard from him yet.Understandable hei s probably been busy.Your closer so ill wait to see if you have one. Thanks again.

Yes, the 400 is different than a 350. Probably 4" longer.
