CONVERTOR QUESTION
NEEDING A CONVERTOR AROUND 5500 FOR MY GLIDE. HAS ANYONE USED REDNECK PERFORMANCE BEFORE? THEY SEEM TO BE A LOT LESS EXPENSIVE THEN SOME. WHAT ABOUT BDR IN NY? OR ALAN POPE IN FLORIDA? JUST NEED SOME ADVICE DON'T WANT TO BUY SOMETHING WRONG. LIKE TO GET A GOOD PIECE FIRST TIME. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

For the money you cant beat T/S (transmission specialties) spragless racing converterss, they list for around $900 which is about the going rate for a "good" name brand converter.
Dont skimp here - buy a good one and be done with it. They also offer one free tweak within 90 days of purchase. Heres a link to their site. http://transmission-specialties.com/?cPath=23 Goodluck, Cp |

before getting one |
I have had several different brands in the past and have 3 converters sitting on the shelf, coan, tsi, and b&m. The TSI is on its way for a freshen up rarley use the others. If you want one from Trans Spec pm me I can get you a better price then most anyone.

What about the Chance Bros. for trannies and welded convertors?
Thanks |
I know a guy that bought one and it worked great.
355 trick flow heads (out of the box) .555 lift solid cam (non-roller) just a 750 holley carb. Ran 6.90-7.0's in the 1/8th consistantly. Very mild motor. I was surprised. |
Can't beat a Chance convertor. Got me an all aluminum bolt together one and its the sweetest piece you'll ever see. Phone Marty Chance. He'll sort ya out.

What part of the country? Try to find a company reasonably close if possible, helps if you need adjustments. What are you running for an engine, do you have dyno info? You can ask Marty Chance questions here.

Thanks guys for the input. I'd heard that they were one of the best trans/convertor combos, if not the best.

I would contact Don Stanley @ TSI (Transmission Specialities Inc), the original one, at 630 458 0071.
Owner is a real racer and has been in business since the 70's. He has been doing RACING transmissions and converters since 1962. He is the best for getting the right combo for the application. I worked there in the 70s and 80s. |
I have had brian phaze at bdr build me 3 converters for different car and engine combos and he has been bang on every time, infact i just ordered another one for my new 565 combo great price and only 1 week to build... he builds them to the customers engine specs and drivetrain not a pulled of the shelf converter.... they work..

If you want a well built converter on a budget call Greg Samuels. New Opel core converter, billet cover, machined steel stator, spragless for less than most others. Deadly consistent and virtually indestructible.
