can i ask you guys a favor
http://www.racingjunk.com/profile/296039 ok this link should take you to my racespace profile,i would like you to go there and look at the 02 dragster on my photos, not sure how good you can see the dragster but, this guy said its a 2002 williams chromoly,i can't find no numbers on the car,it has new tires on all four,it has new body and paint, all electronics and 4800 or 5800 stall,if you can see look at the cage, and the front wheels, they are kinda wide and a ulgly front nose,i would post pics on here but don't know how,he wants my turn key vega wagon and $3000 for the rolling dragster,my ad # is 1359714,my wagon pictures are on my racespace profile also, give you honest opinion,,,thanks steve
|
My opinion i would keep the vega, but the only time i like dragesters is putting them on the trailer :!: :!:
|
NO---YOU HAVE AN EXCELLENT CAR AND IS THE DRAGSTER ALL UPDATED FOR NHRA/IS EVERYTHING THEIR BUT THE ENGINE[HEADERS/COMPUTER/CHUTE/ETC.?---IT WOULD HAVE TO BE AWFUL GOOD FOR THE DIFFERENCE---MY OPINION
LIVELY |
the dragster has everythink but motor/trans,,but do you think the dragster is a 02,the front end don't look like a 02 to me,i think it looks older than 02,,i rather have a dragster but don't want to get burned,,i have a motor to go in a dragster,417 smc,you can see it on my racespace profils also,,,thanks steve
|
I race at rogersville & bristol also have seen your car, the dragester looks older than 02.
|
Look at the pic of the front end
http://www.racingjunk.com/gallery/profile/296039/107855 the top bar that goes to the spindles, one side is different then the other ? I wouldnt think 3k plus your car is a good deal, I would think you car and max 1k for it, sure looks like 96-99 style car. If it wasnt hauled with something supporting the chassis, pass on it anyways. JMO |
|
It looks like a Dave Tuttle car 91 to 95 with a new body in 2002. Whenever you can't find a chassis tag it makes me think its probably been back halved. Im guessing a 91 car that was redone in 2002. The dragster is worth $7000.00 tops cash and a little more trade value. The only way I'd trade would be your car even. JMO
Good Luck, Dean |
I believe that a chassis tag became mandatory sometime after 2000 or 2001. Not 100% on that, but think so. I would say that the body my have been added in 02 but that thing looks like a 92 or older. I would pass. There will be a much better deal to come along.

thanks guys,i know this one is like a 95 but it very clean, heres the one i want,if i could sell the wagon, take a look at this one

What year is the actual chassis and who was the original builder? What did Racetech update and replace? Does the original body still mount to the car? Don't be afraid to ask questions. All in all, much better then the other one you were looking at appearance wise. I personally would think the cage would be snug on a driver of that size. If you are close, go get in it and see how it feels.

95 racetech put in new cage, seat and bracing, the other one i was looking at was a 19" and i fit pretty good,so i shouldn't have no problem fitting,

Its 10x the car that other one is just by glancing already.
Shawn is right 19" cage you must be a little guy to feel comfortable in there, I am 5"9 200lbs and wont get anything under 22" cage have a 24" now. If you like it, I'd say go look at it. Its a lot nicer car then the other one. |

If the 95 fits your budget then thats what you should be looking at, its a big name car so that helps, looks like it has been taking care of atleast updated. It looks like a modern car. Your small enough so 19" may work and be a little tight but you would be fine in there if need be.

they bolth look simalar
i dont think its worth the car and 3 g- no way where is the tail and wing?? |
Just something to think about, RESALE VALUE !!! A dragster with that small of a cage will be hard to get rid of even in a trade. Most guys are like me and live on a mickey Ds diet,so we are NOT of the smaller build.I am 5 9 and weigh 250.It took atleast a 21 in cage for me to be comfortable in.Just a thought. Nick :D :D :D

Glad to help! When I got married in 84,I wore a 30 in waist now I wear a 42! Something else to think about, the track I go to has a lot of index racing where they race doorcars only. They only bracket race once a month. This seems to be a trend that is coming on strong in our sport.5 years ago everybody wanted to trade a doorcar for a dragster, now it seems to be going the other way.If you do trade just get a nice SAFE car that you will be able to getrid of in the future. Nick :D :D :D

be careful trading for a dragster. i traded a all round tube chassis car for one in ky and boy did i screw up . it took me two year to get back what i had and about 20000.00 plus the dragster. good luck.

thanks guys,,,,my car runs very consistent, and i'm not bragging but i have beat more dragsters than i've lost two in the vega, just about every race i'm in ends up with in a 3-12" the last two races i ran dead on,a few weeks ago i ran dead on with a zero but they called the race track got slick, the last race i went dead on and cut a 02 light and lost by .0010 thats like a one inch, that was my first time crossing over and i love it,i've always went first until that last race and i love going last, its a lot easier ,so thats what got me wanting a dragster,to go last most of the time, but if someone don't buy my wagon soon,i'm going to put my 417 in it and keep it,,
right now it goes 6.73 with the 355 steel headed motor probley about 350-400 hp,,the 417 is right at 600hp,some say it will go 6.40's in the vega,i think more like 6.30's,but i will probley have to put wheelie bars on it if i put the 417 in it, if i keep the vega i'm going to cut the fire wall out and move the motor back about 8",,,,,,,,,,thanks steve |
