Tie Downs
I tie my Altered down with the Tire Slings, they are as far as i'm concered the way to Fly!
They Loop over the Top of the Tire, web Style and have a ajusteble Racheting Lever. Later G 8) |
I tie my roadster down so it is not working the shocks the whole time I am towing it.

I always strap my cars down to the frame on the front and around the rear end in the back. Don't know if that's the way it's suppose to be done but I've been doing it like that for years.
I use hooks on the front or holes in the frame that will work with my straps and axle straps on the rear. |
you need atleast 3 anchor spots...2 at the front end on each side and atleast 1 around the axle but i use 2 also in the back.....tie it to the chassis so it doesnt work the shocks and you want the straps pullin away from each other....
|
Always put automatic cars in neutral so's it doesnt bounce on the PARK pahl.

I have 4 brackets that I welded to frame, on all 4 corners and use two tie back straps on rear and two rachet straps on front, I dont have to climb under rig at all

SPIB---WHAT ARE YOUR BRACKETS MADE OF?---LIVELY
|
metal, a half of a circle, with a hole in middle, so you can atach shackle or hook on rachet strap, will take a closer pic , if you want

The GMC has a piece of tubing welded between each 4-link bracket and axle. Serves dual purpose in stabilizing the bracket and a tie down point.
In the front, there's a single 180* tubing u-bend that is welded to the front cross member. Serves not only as a tie down point, but a tow point as well. Not sure why you'd need more than one tie down in front. There is far greater forces in stopping than starting. I don't care if it falls out the back, just so long as it doesn't hit me in the head. |
We had a bad expeience with tire slings one time.Drove from VA to PA one morning to go to the Jalopy Showdown (awesome event :D ) at Beaversprings Dragway.Tied the fed down with tire slings, drove 6 hours with an unknown leak in rear tire and showed up with a rail that been rubbing all up against inside of trailer  .Guess it would have come loose even if tied to frame and tire went down.Just left a "bad taste in my mouth" I guess you would say.Just my $.02
