Into the 12's
Now to do some tweaking and yahoo.....
Went out Friday in 100 degree heat and bad air and this is what I ran... http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...0001Medium.jpg I know they are hard to read but I ran a 13.02 @ 104, a 13.04 @ 103, a 13.04 @ 104 a 12.98 @ 103. My 12.98 pass I let off so I didn't break out to much, I was on a 13.01 dial. My R/t's were .176, .016, .005 and .157. My 60's were slower, I was getting spin out of the hole but were, 1.83, 1.83, 1.85, and 1.82. All in all it was good, went 4 rounds and if I had not hit my rev limiter in the last rd I would have gone to the semi's at least. All this in the heat and bad air. |
Is that with slicks or street tires?? The heat sure tames a good running car though.

Footbraking and no preload. |
Carl that is some great #'s its getting better all the time. Is that your fastest time so far with your hotrod. With some good air an tweeking here an there I can see 12.80's coming down the strip. You never know I may see you at the tree one day.
|
Thanks Wes, 8)
I think mid to low 12's with some tweaking and open headers. When I shut off I was about 108mph. Is that your fastest time so far with your hotrod? You never know I may see you at the tree one day. |
Try some ET slicks or the ET street slicks if its a street car, ditch the radials they are notorious for spinning, especially in the heat.
If you ever do figure what those radials like E.G. heavy burnout, light burnout, hazing, dry hop, flashing the stall, varying launch rpm, playing w/ air pressure settings etc etc etc, they will drive you up the wall trying to find out what they like to get them to hook, then when you do get it right and they do hook a few rounds they will let you down at the most unopportune time E.G. money rounds, semis, finals etc etc etc. save your self the headache and get some slicks, your lights more consistent et's and your sixty foot times will thank you. Been there done that, Charles |
:D happiness is a 12 sec street Chevelle :D

cepx111 that was a great post with the advice I myself can use that info when I get mine running. Experience is a valuable thing.

Good to hear you got it down some, if the money is available i would go to 9"X28.5" mickys they will fit with the correct offset rim. That's what i used to run and mine went 11.50's all day long with a mild rat motor and pull the front wheels.
I hope you have C-Clip eliminators on those rear axles :) . It would be a shame to mess up that beautiful body on the 65  Zip. |
CONGRATS CARL!!!!!! running good, running hard, are you having fun yet?

I believe i had 5" offsets 8" weld wheels and they cleared the drum brakes, it's been a long time ago, over 20 yrs. ago. Zip. |

Congratulations, Carl! Going 12's in a sweet looking street Chevelle with consistant times is priceless! :D Good going!

Hey Carl,
Now that's awesome :) I'll bet with some decent weather and some more dialing in you'll be in the low to mid 12's. You'll pick up the 60 ft times when you get it to hook. Sounds like you were focused on bracket racing. You did good Carl. Glad to see you having fun. |
