Well,
I just got to hear the motor test fire. If it dyno's like it sounded, I will be one happy camper. :D Will have more info later tonight. The motor is set to ship tomorrow and at my installer by Wednesday! 8) |

Dyno results are in...
The peak hp was 461.8 @ 6000 The peak tq was 484.0 @ 4300 Tq was above 400 before 3000 and continued over 400 throughout. Hp was over 400 from 4400 on. http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...0002Medium.jpg |
ohhh yeah you will have plenty of fun out of that motor..it makes almost the same numbers as my wifes MILD 406..with 520 lift cam......her car will run 7.40's in the 1/8th..with MT ET Streets 28x10's with a 4.56 gear thru the mufflers at 3300lbs with me driving and i am 220lbs......this is also foot braking..
if we drpped the muffflers put on a pair of 10 inch slicks and a transbreak ..it will run some 7 teens...... you can bet your car will run just as good but a little more forgiving on the street with your 3.70 gear......her gear is a little much for the street with those short tires... Carl your car will handle all these younger boys store bought mustangs etc,.. on the street..i have always said that a true 500 hp motor is a STOUT motor.... good luck.....by the way what kind of tires will you run..they make some good street drag raidals now.. later brian..also i cannot find your ad in show off..help me here a little.. |
LOL...sorry, I just kept adding here to an old thread...nothing but interior to see in show off.
I am going to an MT Street drag radial 235/60/15 http://fastspecialties.com/store/images/6723743R.jpg |
ahhhh good choice....thanks for straigthening me out on the ad..i was going crazy trying to find it.
brian |
Great #s Carl Not only does your car look great but it should run like A scalded Dog Congrats
|
carl how is the motor coming along? do they still make the M&h Race Master tires? those things hooked like as good as a slick
|
Here is the motor....
http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...y65/440005.jpg It will be in the car and driving first part of next week[/img] |
i see it was dynoed with mufflers..AWESOME !!...it will make 15HP or a little more with straight headers....the HVH supersucker spacer plate has proven to increase 10hp on the dyno..my buddy runs on his dragters and is a DIE HARD bracket racer and swears it picks him up 2 hundreths..
I put one on my camaro and it will stand up and BOOGIE !! ohh yeah how about putting the cut outs on the headers where you can open and close them with a cable from inside the cockpit...(neat)..15-20hp on tap when you need it...LOL so its safe to say you can reach and get another 25-30hp or more by doing these 2 things...if it were my car i would also place me a good ram air induction thru the carb breather..use those round track duct work and draw cold clean air and funnel it into the ram air box...another 5 to 7 hp or more...if you do this with the hvh super sucker check your plug reading..most likley you will be just fine but worse case you would need to bump up a jet size ( but i doubt it)... so i would say 500-510 hp is not out of the question..with very little cost and ALL bolt on stuff.. what kind of ignition box you running with that MSD pro-billet dist ? thats what i like about the type car and motor you have..you can do so much neat stuff to them..to me its Very fun to ad little stuff and gain 2hp here and there...MAKE IT A JAMES BOND CAR...MYSTERIOUS BUTTONS AND SWITCHES EVERYWHERE !!!...i am getting excited for you... :D :D and a damn good thumper (stereo) when you PARK the car..the motor is music enough when driving...AGREE ?? Brian |
Thanks Brian for the input and info!!!!
I will do or at least look into all of them. I am running a 6AL ignition and Blaster 2 coil. I am planning on using a new style cold air induction for holley's I found the other day. I will have to make the tubes myself that go from the intake to the front of the engine compartment, but it seems simple enough. I also plan on doing the spark pkug deal. I can hardly wait to put it on the track next Friday, my builder is almost more excited to know what it does than I am...He wants me to call him from the track... 8) |
Carl..now about those spark plugs you can buy the ones with the cut back strap from the factory..its what i run in my 511 bbc.....it will say right on the box.."CUT BACK GROUND ELECTRODE".....
you might have to order them..the autolight race plug will not be on the counter anywhere in your local normal parts house. Brian |
Carl looks nice bro.
What heads you got on the engine? Does it take the tapered plug or the gasket type plug I might be able to look up and recomend a spark plug that will work nice for you :P |
Thanks Tom,
The heads are the large port vortecs. Plugs are Autolite AR103 I think. |
Boys Carl that don't look right, thats a pretty hot plug there. Its a -6 heat range
Do you know what came stock in them heads for a plug? I can cross it over and find some thing a little cooler, I'd run some thing in the -8 range for heat running it on the street with a little track use if it were me. |
Tom,
Let me double check on the plugs. I am not totally sure that is the right number. Hankstay |
If you know what year the heads are any parts place can get you the proper replacement number,
Then run it by me and I can convert it to an Autolite Racing number If they are the 5/8 hex and the reach is like 5/8 long I can figure it out,oh and are the plugs the tapered seat ones? Or do they have the gasket? O nay a roblem pay ny aay ime tay |
Well, it's a few more days off before I am behind the wheel.
We decided to go 1/2" fuel line all the way from the gas tank, braided lines., electric fuel pump with regulator. Going to go with serpintine belt system, and he wants to put on a shroud. Hope to have it Friday, but not going to be disapointed if it isn't ready. |
carl you have come along ways on getting a motor for your ride. an extra day are two would be worth waiting on :D :D
