Hope you get caught up DD.
It hasn't been cold here until this morning. It's 28, but it'll warm up in a little while. However, the wind shut down several of our jobs last week. Hard for us to work with wind over 20mph. It's actually safer to work work with a steady 20-25 mph wind than it is when it gust from 5- 20mph. When it comes to wind every crane has different specs, OSHA has it's own and many plants/ job sites have another, but the 20-25 is about the cut off point for all. The operator has the ultimate decision and can shut down at any time he feels the lift is not safe. |
Back in the mid late 70's i worked as a journeyman sign hanger along the Columbia Gorge in Wash/Ore. The wind blows 395 days of the year. I serviced and installed a ton of electric signs up to 120 feet height to the access door to the interior of the sign. I'd go up in a basket with remote controls in all kinds of weather and wind conditions. It was like being on the tip of a long fly fishing rod ! It got to the point where my nerves just weren't nervy enough and had to get outa the biz.
