opps my typing mistake, 6.535 is correct.

What type of compression with 119cc head.

598 BBC, 14-1 compression J+E pistons, 800 lift camshaft, 7200 rpm, density altitude between 3500 and 6500 feet typically. Can I run VP c12 or do I need a better fuel?

I would go with C14, the C12 you might be able to get away with but are pushing your luck.

That piston is 14.7 to 1 with the 119 cc head, part number is 243328, set up for a .043, .043, 3.0mm ring pack, part number J77008-4610-5

JE Pistons #532-243328

502BBC OPEN CHAM DOM

Sure we got thr right part # ? or is jegs wrong ?

I am thinking hard on maybe doing a special order pistons like 4.602 bore be less machine work, probably cost of pistons and bore would offset each other.

That is the correct number and buying from me those pistons are 877.92 and 220.03 for the rings. If you want a 4.605 you are going to be looking around 1050.

I was wondering what the difference was between the SRP and JE. I think the ones I have are SRP flat tops with two valve reliefs. Possible these can handle 300Hp worth of nitrous? I also run AFR's with 65cc's. The compression is something like 10:7. what are your thoughts? I run c-12 while I race also.

Thanks

The SRP pistons are made out of a 4032 alloy that is not as strong as a 2618 uded in a tradtional JE, I woulf not reccomend more then a 200Hp shot on a SRP. We do have some nitrous specific pistons what combo are you running?

tweekd 10-22-2008 05:51 AM

It is a 383, 4 bolt main block with studs. Eagle steel crank and H-beam rods, the pistons are the SRP's like i said flat tops with two valve reliefs, head gaskets are .041 I think or .039 I dont remember. Heads are AFR 195's with 65 CC chambers and studed. Cam is 241/246 @ .050 and .537/.540 lift.

The car made 385 RWHP and 365RWT with a vic Jr. and BG 750.

When I built the motor I wanted to be 11.50's on motor (pump gas, steetable and usable) which it has done already no problem.

The other goal was to go close as possible to 10.0 on nitrous. The kit I am buying goes to 300hp which I planned on using to get there. Am I crazy?
Am I gonna smoke these pistons? Will more octane help?

Thanks a million. I almost wish I never found this thread!

The piston was not designed to handle that much nitrous, not saying you are going to hurt it but everything has to be exact, and something being just a little off and you need a bodybag.
