I am not a bling person, like the old school stuff. I will get grief from the purist about having vette rally's on a 2nd gen Camaro but dont care, I love the way it looks! :D

RonOwensRacing 05-04-2012 01:22 PM

Chris that is killer you have done a great job. I just love that thing.AWESOME

TheYellaBrick 05-04-2012 02:14 PM

outlaw256 05-05-2012 02:56 AM

LOL

Harbone 05-05-2012 10:57 AM

Dont tempt me Ken! I have seen the pics of your toys and place on your profile and would love to come hang out with you! I might have to take the long way to florida next spring and swing by to finally meet you in person!

TheYellaBrick 05-05-2012 02:29 PM

Now if one of us would just hit the lottery we'd all have gas money to saddle up and meet at Kens for a BBQ or sumthin' !

Harbone 05-27-2012 02:44 PM

Well after searching for 3 weeks I found a nice set of licensed GM dogdish police style center caps. I thought it looked cool with the lug nuts showing but the caps make it just look sweet! 8)

More better !!!!!!!! :)

TheYellaBrick 05-27-2012 08:32 PM

It never ceases to amaze me how just changing a simple thing like hubcaps can completely change the demeanor of a car !
Just bare wheels screams RACECAR(greasy T shirt and torn jeans), and adding caps scream CRUIZER(3 pc suit and tie with eye candy on your arm).
I love the looks of this car both ways, 'bone ! The Orange with a little black and chrome and you've NAILED the stance perfectly 8) 8) 8) 8)
Now, how's it handle ? You done any lefty/righty stuff yet ?

Harbone 05-28-2012 07:52 AM

It handles better than I thought it would Duane, it has the large factory front sway bar and a Z28 rear sway bar. I am ordering solid bushings for the subframe along with some Heidt's subframe connectors this week just to tighten her up a little bit more. Next step is gonna be the Hotchkis TVS kit with front coils, rear springs and sway bars.

TheYellaBrick 05-28-2012 09:09 AM

Then a 4 point hoop, 5 point belts, on board fire suppression system, stickygumbo's on all 4 corners, YEAH ! Slap a number on it and "Let's go RACIN'!"
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Harbone 06-10-2012 12:30 PM

Picked up the subframe connectors from the powdercoater Friday night. I also received my Global West solid subframe bushings. Sat down Friday night and put together some cribs.

Got home Saturday night about 8pm and decided to knock out the subframe bushings. Did the back 4 with the car sitting on the floor. I did not loosen the bolts at the radiator support. My car had been taken apart about 15 years ago so lucky for me the bolts came right out. Put a jack with a short 2x6 at the front floorboard cross support. Took me maybe an hour at the most. Put the car up on the cribs this morning and knocked out the front body mounts on the radiator support.

Harbone 06-10-2012 12:32 PM

Next was the Heidts bolt on subframe connectors. 4 holes drilled in the sides of the subframe and the rear attaches with a u-bolt through exsisting holes in the frame behind the front spring pearch. Plenty of ground clearance and no interference on the floorboards.

I could tell an immediate difference, my whole dash and even the hood would shake like crazy at idle in gear. The car feels tight, my bushings were not that bad but the big block is on solid mounts with a pretty big cam and it shakes the heck out of the whole car. The dash and hood isnt jumping around

dragonmaster093 06-29-2012 05:23 PM

one sweet car bone and glad to see ya go with the flat caps just sets the rims off

Harbone 07-21-2012 12:58 PM

Took my spare cluster apart so I could paint the dial faces white

http://s3.amazonaws.com/s3.racingjun...768642-098.jpg

Soaked them for a couple of days in enamel thinner, the blue backing came right off but the faces took some scrubbing
http://s3.amazonaws.com/s3.racingjun...769911-074.jpg

I painted the faces with some semi-gloss white enamel and let them dry for a week.
There is a company called GaugeMarks that reproduces the stickers on gauge faces to an incredible detail. Camaros never came with white face gauges but he can make the stickers in any color you want. I can not emphasize the quality of their work and the excellent customer assistance they provide!

If you are going to do these yourself I highly recommend watching Daniel's video on his website that shows you how to apply the new letters. Its a life saver!!!

If I get some time in the next couple of weeks I hope to pull the cluster back out and swap in the new gauges.

Harbone 07-29-2012 07:40 AM

Had no plans last night so I took out my old gauges and installed the white face ones I made up last week.

I wanted to put some silver on the dash bezel since it was solid black

http://s3.amazonaws.com/s3.racingjun...170620-864.jpg

A steady hand and a Testors paint pen and I like how it turned out!

http://s3.amazonaws.com/s3.racingjun...170627-022.jpg

Now the lens is back on the cluster and ready to go back in.

With the LED bulbs the gauges really pop at night! The white gauges really break up the blackness of the dash and interior.

Harbone 08-03-2012 06:12 PM

26 days of 90 plus degree weather in July, have not had much playtime with the Camaro. I did manage to snap a few shots last weekend...

Harb:

I am a little late to this thread. Just saw it. Well done man. I really like the wheels... which got me thinkin'. Those are probably 8 to 10" rallys on the back right? Then 6 or 7" in the front approx right? They are regular rally wheels correct? paint to match body & obtain desired dish... like a COPO or derby, Corvette etc.... is that what you did? I want my Chevelle similar... was just going to do 8" or 10" in back then 5" Rallys in front (if i could get off set right) & not run beauty rings... w/ my favorite dish/cap... but I am still not totally sure yet. Your can looks perfect that way; all buisness & still mean looking. well done dude. Scoot

Harbone 08-14-2012 05:05 PM

Scoot,
The rears are 15x8 with P275/60R15 tires with a 4 1/2 inch backspace on the wheels. The fronts are 15x7 with P235/60R15 tires. I got lucky with the color and the local powdercoat shop hit the hugger orange on the head. I had to roll the rear fenders just a little to keep the tire from rubbing at full suspension squat. The hubcaps are GM licensed police style center caps, about $80 for a set.

TheYellaBrick 08-14-2012 07:20 PM

That whole car just 'WORKS'. It was a great base when ya got it, but your personal touch has raised it waaaay up there, Bone !
:D :D :D

Harbone 08-15-2012 08:28 AM

Thanks Duane!
She is slowly getting the way I want her. Finish up a few things here and there then start ordering some Hotchkis parts for the suspension as a winter project.
I still havent put any kind of stereo in the car yet, to busy enjoying the sound of the motor and exhaust! :D

TheYellaBrick 08-15-2012 03:57 PM

A car like that produces it's own music ! Ya just need tunes for when you're parked with the engine OFF watching submarine races up at the dam !

outlaw256 08-19-2012 05:32 AM

DANG boys you trying to give me a heart attack...lol shes HOT....what car... harbone did check out them flowmasters specs before you put them on therr?compare them to some other hipo mufflers you might not like what you read about them. seems then can and do steal a few ponies from ya.but they do sound good on her.funnt aint it, when we were young the first thing we did to our cars was take off then ugly stock type wheel and a set of cragers would replace them with skinnys up front and some fat fat meat on the back. now they seem to go back to what we took off.but i quess its true what they say about me im stuck in the 70s.and i aint comin back! i do like the wheels on ther but i klnow for a fact id would have put then cragers on her.lol no matter she does look good!!!!!
