well "I" never SAID you scammed him. Like I said if you want to know something about me that is relevant to your situation in this post then feel free to ask and I will tell you. I think you fellas keep going back to the whole profile thing because you think this is a conspiracy. I told you before I dont know jrlj. Why dont you think about your next reply real good and see if you can come back with something that proves jrlj was wrong in accepting the compensation MOP offered him.

Let me see if I can guess the next question you will have..hmmm.. oh I know.. Are you black or white? are you voting for barack obama or hillary? maybe you want to know my religion.

I dont mean to be harsh guys but I think we are getting off the subject here.

Have i ever said he was wrong or right? I don't care if you are black or white, don't care who you vote for. But there is one thing for sure, the price of the carb didn't warrant me going across the u,s after it, but you sure are getting me to that point with you. You seem to be one of these people that get's their kicks from keeping things stirred up and is afraid to show themselves for who they really are, well on second thought you have showed whom you are, TO THE REST OF YOU GUY'S ON HERE, IGNORE THIS PEST AND IT MIGHT GO AWAY!

LMAO @ MOP Sorry you feel like you have to TRY and beat on a person because they brought a different point of view to your attention. Shows your level of intelligence there buddy. I thought we were all adults just having an open discussion. If you would grow up and take responsibility for your multiple mistakes in this situation you might feel just a little bit better about yourself. Instead of threatening violence you should try seeing the other side of this situation. thats all im trying to get you to do here..friend

67ss396chevelle 03-21-2008 08:53 PM

Well I see that any hopes of any reasoning you might have has turned to stupidity so I guess I will stop "poking at the bears". I do have to say I got some enjoyment out of conversing with you guys. I do honestly feel that jrlj had every right to keep the carb you offered him to make up for your mistakes. Just my opinion. I will check back every now and then to see if you want to chat about it some more.

Someone great once said "We all have to take a stand at some point....I think I'll stand here"

I feel great about myself, drag racing is starting up, going racing, lovely wife, nice home, nice garage, fast car, what else is there. I only made one mistake. And that is trying to deal with Jim.

awww I just cant stand it. How do I show who I am?

Now your placing blame on him. You made a mistake by misrepresenting what you had (by accident). after things got out of hand a little you realized it was mostly your fault so you done something good (offered the carb as compensation) and made it right. Great job! exactly how you should have handled it. But then things went down hill in this forum becasue you didnt actually intend on giving him the compensation you offered and the guilt trip started.

I am not on a guilt trip, up untill now i havent said a thing about it, let everyone else do it, they ask for the carb back not me. I am as happy as i can be. Got everything i want.

JR should have realized that there was a communication mistake, been appreciative of your offer and then met that generosity by returning the carb. deal done, friends made and everyone happy.

When he kept the carb and said he did it because you told him that was the deal? It became all about the money.

But then these days it is all about the money right? Not about doing whats right, making friends and building relationships, even meeting trading partners.

Mopar, what that carb deal/final offer bought you is the admiration and respect of many on this board.

JR, returning it would buy you the same.

My opinion as always,

Later

it is what is stated in the above quoted post that is the real issue...at least for me.

Look MOP I know your ego is bruised a bit but that is what an open discussion does sometimes. You shouldnt threaten people though, it doesnt look good on your part. I dont mind being the only one with a certain point of view as long as I feel its right. I think you would be surprised at how many other people see it different than you and your buddies do. and yes I said RACECARS we teamed up with a guy from cali and were going to be traveling around the south and northeast some doing a few races. maybe we will meet up one day who knows. does 260-270 mph qualify as a REAL racecar in your book?

Well it seems we have someone here that has more money to spend then some of us slower wanna be's.(67 SS) So why would this matter even bother you? Hell, go ahead buy the man a brand new Dominator and write it off on taxes next year, to show us how real money is thrown away. And everyone will see what a great top fuel man you are. Shoot man, most fellow racers would see it was an honest mistake and after the time and money he spent, would have sent the carb back to be a real fellow racer. He was never the man asking for his carb back, but look at the money he's out. Some of us don't have money and live paycheck to paycheck. So buying something for our cars is something to look forward to. Not trying to get ahead and then having to take 2 steps back. Accident or not, he stepped up and tried to do what was best. People on here are just saying that 99% of us would have just sent the man his carb back. Until your in a poor man shoes your whole life, please get off his case. As far as real racecars go, 260-270 is very impressive to be paid for, but real racecars are built in the backyards and single car garages of America with real blood, sweat and tears. And we are as or more proud of our slow stuff, then anybody that can buy a fast car/dragster. :P Flame off

So im supposed to feel bad because I worked smart in life and have something and you didnt. Give me a break. 99% of you might have given it back and thats fine but you cant come down on jrlj because he doesnt have the same view as you. as far as being poor well, I was raised poor and decided I would not make my kid go through the same thing in llife that I had to. Dont you want better for your family? Maybe if your sooo poor you should stop racing and use the money to invest or build a profitable business. Then come back and build a nice car. just a thought. your comment about real race cars being built by blood sweat and blah blah blah dude get off your soap box. We all turn wrenches and sweat a lot to do this stuff and I spend my money wisely. I bet 75% of you fellas have more in your cars than we do.

I have told MOP I was not attacking him personally. I decided to voice my opinion and people started questioning it. So I explained my reasoning in this. I was only trying to show another point of view fellas.

Its amazing how far we have got off the subject. The further we get the more correct I know I am. So you fellas flame away if you like. My opinion makes my no less of a racer than you.

Thanks for posting my profile. Mop kept asking for it but I didnt know how to post.

Oh yeh I would go buy him a new dominator but he would probably just give it away too. LOL just kidding felllas

I've been in this game for a long time. The ads that make me fall out laughing is the people that think they can spend 25-50K or more on something and then someone wants to give them their money back. Come on, this sport is like gambling, there's no real winners just the fun of spending the money and driving it. I like pro street style cars with the stock dash's left in them in them. First thing that kills these ads for me is Nicest Prostreet on Racing junk, and there's nothing left of the car they started with. All aluminum panels, dash, door panels and lexan windows. I guess I should be able to get $ 100,000 out of my #'s matching 71 SS/RS 396 Camaro then. Even with the flowmasters and TT II's. ROFLMAO

Well just the fun of spending money huh? What happened to blood sweat tears and building it in the dirt in the backyard with your kids running wild thru the yard chasing the dog and on and on. I have to say I think 25k is a good bit of money but wow a 100k for your car? Sounds like someone is living big paycheck to paycheck.

ok thats it I am going to the lake. LOL

CATCH'N FISH OR BOATING FOR FUN? I can't wait to go fish'n.

insane4fbodys 03-22-2008 09:29 AM

WOW! you can use a computer, great for you. I didn't say I didn't have toys. But I have earned them through getting my hands dirty. My car means a lot to me, but know I'll never get what it's worth. I have no kids, but not for the lack of trying. So guess where my extra $$$$ went. Good for you on your business, your money, your family and clearly your way of thinking as your far better off then us. I guess there's not a MENSA racing junk out there for you. So your just stuck with us. So sorry. Enjoy your day. 8)

We went "noodling" some today. It was funny as H@ll. Didnt catch a thing but we seen some nice ones. We started going last year with my brother in law and he brought up one that was about 50lb. Today was nice and sunny out there. We had a blast. we pulled up to a public boat ramp where a bunch of people were swimming last year and came up with one about 25lbs..you should have seen the people scatter. it was like we had a stick of dynamite in our hands    You should try it sometime its kinda the HANDS on version of catfishing. My 15 year old has grabbed a couple but couldnt get them to the top. Hopefully he will get a few this year.

Well I can say I have worked hard for what I have and had quite a few blessings come my way that I am thankful for. What is MENSA? I am not stuck with anybody. I have had great dealings with some awesome people on here and think of them all as friends. I bet if we met we could probably be friends. All you see of me is my view of this situation and you are trying to judge me totally off that. I am sorry if MOP is your buddy and you dont see it the way I do. I am entitled to my opinion as you are yours. I think maybe this is heading in a direction I refuse to go. so I guess I will go find a less sensitive subject to chat about. Insane hope you and yours the best . buckle in tight, be safe and no hard feelings because of this. It just isnt worth it.

I have seen that on TV guys pull up huge flat heads from logs and holes...it is illegal in Indiana. I don't think I want to put my hand that far down a flat heads mouth..lol

67ss396chevelle 03-22-2008 05:49 PM

lol its kinda scary with the big ones. We catch mud and yellow cat. My brother in law run up on a beaver one time. He said he couldnt get back to boat fast enough. I bet one of those suckers would cost you a finger or two   .

Tod74 03-22-2008 05:52 PM

I have heard of guys doing that with snapping turtles too...supposedly they always go in a hole head first...so you can reach in and grab em by the tail. Like I said "supposedly" they always go in head first.Used to work with a guy whos bro in law lost a finger cause someone forgot to tell a certain snapping turtle in Blue River that he was supposed to always go in head first...lol

LMAO I HOPE all of the ones around here are well informed on proper procedure. I have seen a larger one bite through an unopened beer like it was nothing. We decided it would be a good idea to throw him out of the boat before someone got hurt..like me! LOL
