questions

Ok, first off, how does the rear suspension work vs. the single shock swing style? Does it control shake better??? better 60ft's? And, after looking at your wiring job, if it was mine, I would have tripped over the frame from being tangled in the wires from the glow of all the bling, bling :D and hit my head, broke both legs and would have had to watch my buddy drive it this year

Bitchin, this is all I can say to your buildup on this digger, the paint on the frame is unparelled, and the body will match with the clearcote I am sure. Man, would a 632cuin do you justice with this awesome piece, no punn on your currently bullet mind you, but this just pants for cubic inch man, and change that single bottle rack to a twin rack, 6's in no time :D

Very nice job again, and, do you do wiring on slow cars :) but mine is kind of cool looking, just a lot slower :( I would like to talk to you some time about your project, really about your wiring, it is just great work also and it makes YOU appreciate it mayyyy more too :D
Funny, I won at Martin in 2004 with my old colored Elky, (white pearl) but now with the new Corvette Yellow, I may have to hit the 131 facility again in 07 :D wanna race???? you can have a burger, fries and pop before you leave after me

Seriously, very nice work hammertime and what class will you run? and did you hear about the new NHRA diaper rule for 08??? yep, everybody running 9.99 and faster gets to wear depends around their bullet, blows if you ask me :x but then again, I need to go 9's first huh??? :P
Shoot me your # sometime, I would love to yap with ya about your ride. Good luck this year.

Sincerely
Elkymann

ps, my elky finally made the chevelle show off section in the forums, go check it ok when time permits....

hammertime 01-15-2007 06:30 PM

Elky
The dual shock is what you'd normally see on most dragster, I personally am not a fan of a single shock for a few reason, main reason is when your on and off the throttle at the big end it will rock back and forth, where the duals will not do that. As for the 632" I looked at one, but for what I do bracket race 90% of the time, and the other 10 is either top dragster or quick 8, the motor I have with the spray I have will still run very low 7's, possibly into high 6's.

The wiring job is really my first ever one, I figured out a few things I will do different on the next car, but thats something everyone does when doing their first car. It has turned out very well for a first timer. I am glad you like it !
Where do you race at most the time ?
my email is [email protected] email me sometime

David

lookingaround 01-16-2007 02:43 AM

good lord aint got this one done and already talking about the next one

sg1586 01-16-2007 08:05 AM

Looking good!!!

Why not go with a digital box??? The programable type?? I have one and love it!!

hammertime 01-16-2007 10:33 AM

I am always looking towards the future  Likely at the end of the season this car will be sold and another will be on the way, I've got to many lookers and wanters of it already not to get rid of it. Normally every 2 years a new one is in the trailer, dragsters are easy to lose money on every 2 years is a good safe deal to sell them at.

SG I had a digital for it at one point, They do tune a lot of things, but several people I race with dislike them for a few reasons, you have to have the programmer or a computer to hook into, and they seem so go bad quicker then they should. I've always normally ran 6al stuff and its worked fine, but figured with the nitrous i'd better jump up for a bit better spark.

elkymann 01-16-2007 01:22 PM

Now that really makes sense, and I didn't think a digger at the big end would move around that much... so I can see why you use two vs. one, thanks, just curious. and yeah, you should do well with the 500+ inch engine and spray. 8)

I try to tour with the NMCA/FSC guys and they hit Martin in 2004, but not lately and I won the brkt II their, hotter than hell too, but I won and the track was much better than years ago, although I miss the big events that used to show their, POP ROD Nationals, and so on. But, i usually race at Milan, Dragway, but will hit more tracks and I love Norwalk, one of the best parts braking tracks around in my book, although again, Chitown will bust a part or two also at night  my current schedule is Columbus, in June 1-3, then on to Rt 66 in Chicago, for the largest street car gathering in the United States, so far!!! :D , plus, it is my wedding anniversary also their :D and that is in July, 19-22, then on to Milan in my back yard, then off to Memphis maybe, depending on finances and time off. Other than that, I may race at some tracks in Ohio, and maybe Ind., I used to race in Manistee, or Kaleva, Northern Michigan Dragway, but that was years ago, only 1000 ft their to race on also. But I would love to hit 131 again for sure. Ok, enough coffee for me today, I will send you a mail soon, and again, very nice work hammer, can't wait to see it in full trim, and I think a driveway burnout is in the makings, don't you think guys???? :D :D

Elkymann :)

Looks real nice & neat but where are the fuses??? There should be a fuse to each power side of each relay.......

lotsof454sss 01-30-2007 04:07 PM

Great looking job and to be your first one too, I am impressed..There is one point I will ask about though..Where your wiring goes into the frame it is making a pretty good bend and of course rubbing againt the metal....Is the metal real smooth and even so that looks like a spot that will get vibration and could cause a problem in my mind, so please fill me in...Again though, great looking job...

hammertime 01-30-2007 04:27 PM

thanks guys,
There is circuit breakers on all the switches and everything is switched so no need for fuses.

Where it goes into the frame is pretty smooth it wont rub through the coating. I ran my last car for 2 years this sameway and never had an issue, it just makes for a better/cleaner look then outside the chassis.

us7race 01-30-2007 04:39 PM

Where did you get those Distribution blocks? The ones with the big power cable going to the center and the small ones coming from the diameter?..
I need some of those!! By the Way Awsome Job on the Wiring!! :D

How long is this dragster? Also what do you plan on it to run?

lotsof454sss 02-14-2007 07:25 AM

us7 just asked the same things I wanted to know...That is a beautiful job you have done David..congrats and i know you will have fun too...lots of work there for sure...and oh yea, keep that damn snow with you as we do not want any...

hammertime 02-14-2007 10:12 AM

hey guys thanks !!
It is 235 long, I will know more on very close #'s in a few weeks the motor is being put together right now off to the dyno soon, looking to make 950hp +/- 15 with a 548, which should put this car is the low 7.50 range if not high 7.4 range, but I will not get my hopes up untill I see some dyno #'s. I also have a 50 to 300hp NX plate system on it, with a 150 jet in it right now for top end driving, but do plan to run it on the spray for a few races, that should make it run low 7.2's for 4 seconds of spray.

Thanks again for the comments !!
ps you think thats snow you should see it now !! wow 3 times as much
