If you do find anything to help out with gas mileage, pass it on down the line. Mine gets about 17mpg but mines not a 4x4 either. Don't really need it in Ga. do you have air bags on it yet? I have a 07 2500 hd duramax, we put the 5000 lb firestone air bags on back, when I pull my 24 ft tag loaded I leave bags empty but when I put 9 ft camper on there and we go racing I put around 80lbs in bags and she levels off real nice

Hey David, check with Gale Banks, I've used thier stuff in the past with good results. You're right pricey but they field test thier stuff before they release it to the public. Just tell them what you're doing with it and what you would like to gain.

Hammer, get the Firestone air bag kit - they are far better than other brands IMHO. I have installed a set on my Dodge 3500 and it was a 2-3 hr. install with NO drilling. Best price I found on 'em was CarParts.com @ 218 bucks or so. Get the AirLift onboard compressor kit "SmartAir" which uses a magnetic sensor that runs the compressor or bleeds the air off to keep the truck level no matter what the load is on it. I found the best deal on it at Streetside Auto.com @ 279 bucks and worth every penny. That 3/4 ton truck will thank you for it! Good luck! 8) JB

Looks like I wont be needing the air bags, hooked it upto my 36ft tag friday, dropped 2 1/2" with trailer on it. Took it down the road has plenty of power to pull it, cruised right along 65 without much effort. It did sway a little bit but didnt have stablizers on it yet. The 36ft empty shouldnt be much lighter then a new 28ft loaded with my dragster.
I do know it needs tow mirrors before I do anything. thanks for all the replies guys :D |
AAAAHH... the real test will be when you have that new trailer loaded for bear ! Load balance is paramount !
As are dedicated TRAILER tires. Too many folks put CAR tires on trailers ! Think of the difference in road/load/and stress differences in what each type tire was designed/built for. Did my first MPG test with it today not to impressed 11.18 of course this is with me starting it before I leave.
