No don't leave just because of a disagreement, If everyone on here done that no-one would be here,Just Tom and Brian would have to talk to each other LOL, We all disagree from time to time. It is i have run Pinks twice and i have seen first hand how they screw people out of their money.Two year's ago they were going to have a arm drop live show, Rich cancelled the show,So far none of us local people has gotten our entry money back :!: JMO Mark

On this forum, we all agree to disagree respectfully, each of us has some knowledge about cars and how things work. It's kinda like driving across town to the same destination, there may be a doz. ways to get there but we all end up at the same destination.
In my opinion there is not a better forum on the net that will help another person who has questions or needs help to get a problem straighted out.
I personally hope you stay, because there is a treasure trove of knowledge on RJ from a group of racers who do it every weekend that they can get to the track.

I tell ya this " taking your ball and Going home" crap has been all too common on here the last year or so...not gonna say any names cause its not that Big of a deal to me.....but I will say one of the 1st ones to really start that crap owned a Orange Truck and Would love to tell you a thing or two but when it came time to hear a few things back it was "I'm Outta here"....lol

and DD is right the internet doesn't convey emotions..so it can be tough getting your point across the way you meant it to be taken...best rule of thumb I can tell someone is don't type anything you would not say to someone's face...this will keep you out of Hot water many times..cause trust me..99.9% of the cats you run across on the internet ain't no where as close the person in real life....ever heard the country song about the internet...on a good day I can have a threesome etc......funny but true song about the internet world...

I agree 1000%. I went to an episode of Pinks in NJ few years back, it was one of the worst times I ever had. We were harassed by the dumb ass state police who were at the track making sure safety equipment was used and done right.Which to me is a joke, I been drag racing a while too and dont need some State police rookie who went to a 4 hour class telling me how to hook my seat belts up. In fact i let him give me an entire demonstration for 5 minutes on the seat belts on the car I was near, finally I said "thanks but thats not my car and walked away"..lol

The techs were complete dicks, the staff sucked and didnt come anywhere near the racers the entire time. The only time I saw anyone from the sho was when I did my arm drop pass.

we waited around all day to be rushed up, rushed on the burn outs, rushed to stage for nothing. The rumor around was they were picking a 9.90 class even days before. And thats what they picked, 9.90.

I get pissed watching his show with his arrogant attitude "well its my show" blah blah blah...Then he shows favors, and always has to make it a Chevy vs Ford race, thats original.

The original pinks which they dont eve do anymore was even more absurd. People would bring 8 second cars to an 11 second race then people would bullshit for car lengths. That aint racing thats TV.

He wasn't there the first day at all, The timing system went bad (due to some rain)in one lane, so they only qualified cars in the lane which the timing lights were working. Rich finally shows up the second day and was told of the problem. By the time he got there half of the people and racers had left and went 35 miles to another track to race. They had picked 16 cars the first day, but many of them had left, so he decided to take down all the advertising, and not film the race, most of the spectators didn't show up the 2nd day either due to the crap that happened on friday. I don't even know how much he did pay out, but they ran the race with no clocks, so no one could run too fast/break out. It was first to the strip came back.
Admittly they did have a good race at Memphis the yr. before though and it was telivised.
The race at Shrevesport i mentioned was also telivised and some of the locals living close to me were picked, but none of the guys that i knew.

Gotcha. I think thats how they picked the cars in NJ too, on the first day.They said Friday was test and tune only so I only showed up the first day to tech my car and the dicks made me take the car off the trailer just to tech it. I didnt want to run Friday and risk breaking, so I put it back on the trailer. I ran low 10's the next day, but they picked a 9.90 class anyway. It was a waste of money and a waste of a day if you ask me. They pick the cars based on what cars they like, not by who is fast or consistent. Also if you listen to the announcer in the Video, he thinks my car is a Toyota..He says "Toyotas are great cars"...
I drove a Nissan, that went 10.26-10.27 all day and night..

I ran a Pinks event 2 years ago at my home track (US 131). Put my old motor back in took some timing out so it would run 10.0's since they seem to pick 10 sec classes quite often. Well they picked 10.20's-10.30's that day. It was OK and I would do it again if it was that close to home. For a $65.00 entry and a chance to win $10,000 not a bad deal if you can put up with some BS.

Oh and Zip you are 100% right it isn't drag racing at all and congrats on everything you have done at the track. I wish I could have 10% of the success you have had over the years.

The funny thing is I remember that episode. It is on the set that I bought in Iraq. I even remember them saying on TV that it wasnt even hooked up at all and that they were just the bottles and nothing else.

And there were 2 crew guys names Dave on each team. Im friends with Dave Localio from Headgames Motorworks. They crossed the names on the screen when the episode aired and put the other dave as Dave Localio..hahahah funny..

The guy I know does some bad a$$ headwork!!

How do you cheat in a "street race" ?

the best bullshitter wins.

There was one episode with 2 mustangs. one guy was from BOSTON. They got screwed.The other mustang was clearly faster and they were obviously sand bagging,but Rich gave them whatever race they wanted it seemed. Then in the last race the guy had him covered so bad he burped the throttle all the way down the track. I fealt bad for the kid that lost.

the earlier seasons they did not have any type of rules for how fast the car goes. It was Nate's job(after he was hired) to match cars up that were close.I don't know how they did it toward the end.

There is no cheating in a street race.They lie through their teeth to get the advantage. :) But I know what you meant,and it is a good point. I hate iot when one car is way faster than the other.

Generally a good street racer who races for money, has an idea of how fast his opponents car will be even with a little edge, and would pick and choose his races accordingly.

I ran pink all out in indy last year and had a great time.Im just a street car guy with a mid 10sec car.It was a real good time for us since we had 4 guys that went to the race.I saw some of the 2010 events and it was getting more and more about the pinks crew and less about the racers.I hear recently that the speed channel wasnt running it in 2011..

When i did pinks in Etown, i did not see anyone from the show the entire time other than when we did our arm drop pass. The only person i spoke to was Nate on the phone several times, who my friend was personal friends with and got me the hook up last minute. It was an experience, but it was nothing like you see on TV thats for sure

They only come out into the lanes and talk to the final 32, and they were very biased towards Imports and it was very obvious. lol for good reason I must admit. I have yet to see an import run as consistant as mine did. 10.26-10-27 all day off the foot brake. 8)

All the smack talking i did, and i would probably do it again since i live close to the track and it was only like $75. Where else can you win $10,000 for $75??

I do know that Nate and his brother branched off and do that "grass roots" drag series, but i have yet to see any TV coverage on it..I think he had a falling out with Rich.

i think Pinks has served it purpose and is done. what it did do well is commercialize Drag racing and bring it main stream which has its pros and cons for the industry. whatever you can do to get more participants and viewers is good for business, but bad for actual racing. Its a double edged sword.

i think of Pinks as the Ringling Brothers of drag racing. If you notice, ther has not been one legitimate name in drag racing to associate themselves with the show in any fashion, cause they know ultimately, rich is about Rich and ratings, not the racers.

Nate is very different and loves the cars, and the racing period! Really cool guy, he actually called me to set up my pass and returned my calls and emails promptly. We spoke like 3 or 4 times. but the day of the show, i didnt see him or anyone from Pinks at all. I definitely will attend a grass roots show and support them.

what I absolutely hate about Pinks is Rich's attitude. when he makes a bad call, which is like 99% of the time, and someone contests his call, he does the typical "Well its my show, Ill do what i want". Reall BS if you ask me.
