i know that edlebrock has a plant to cast their own heads, but
the metal is coming from china, and thats where the problem
starts, its not as pure as the stuff that you would get from the
now closed pittsburg steel plant that china put out of business 8)

Plus alum mat'l cost 3 times more than steel, so they are trying to save money on the casting. Even the Chinese castings would be good if they would simply reduce the core size and build the deck and top side thicker. It's the almighty dollar savings, and hoping that no one will run the high spring pressures and the tall lift cams. If i had my way all the alum heads i run would be solid, but i run alcohol and don't have a cooling problem.

How many Dart heads have you ever heard of pulling the entire top of the head out around the stud??? I've not ever seen one. How about a Brodix?

Tod74 09-12-2009 12:08 AM

I like to keep my stuff neat. BUT taking a turd and putting someone on the trailer that has a high dollar paint job and such would be sorta fun too....like that FARM TRUCK with the dog in the front seat. :D That's just cool. NOT MY choice of a race car but it's still pretty cool.

I personally haven't seen either one break in that manner, and i hope i never do, since i have 3 sets of Brodix (sm/blk) 1 set with PSI 300lbs springs on the seats and .734 lift, and building a 496" customer mtr. with Darts.

I would say something like

"A guy I know owns that car....I help him on it all I can, but he lives in South Carolina now. I can't afford to take off work to go down there though..So It's sitting right now. He may run it some next year."

Technically there isn't any bold face lies in that statement. It takes longer to say all that than it does for it to go down the track, so it would be sitting by the time I got done saying it.

He used to be a COP, therefore he probably has a motor from a Corvette COP car.

I have to tell you, There are very few cars out there that look absolutely midevil and dangerous to confront.

I am talking about the type of car that is sitting dead still, but looks like its going a 1000 mile an hour and makes you think of phrases like

Thats A Bad M_th_R F_ck_r
Holy Sh-T
Thats Freakin Sick

You my man, just happen to be the humble owner of one of the few & rare works of art.

Keep making us jealous................

Yeah, and for all we know, it wasn't the casting's fault. Did you see the combustion chamber??? I'd say there were "other" issues with that motor that far exceeded what was seen.

MEMRACING62 09-20-2009 09:22 AM

BIG ISSUES!

I would bet there is what's left of the motor the heads were on...

6 pistons/rods, cracked block, no crank.
