still should have the level plug on the side of the carrier shouldn't it ??

Most rearends take around 3 quarts to fill completely to the "level plug" located on teh side of the housing, usually it's a inverted 3/8 square drive.


In race trim though, most guys will cut that amount by about a quart, hence the 2 quarts recommend.

I run 2 qts in my dana 60 and its alot bigger than a 9 housing :wink:

fla 1976 you ar right on. On the front side of my housing ( trans side )almost about 2/3rds up is a plug. My rearend is a race built / pro rearend. Its also between the "fins" on my MW chunk. Thanks again.

pull one axle fill housing until when you look in the axle tube with a flashlight the lube has reached the bottom of the tube then make a note of the amount used
