I agree that the II is a real nice unit. I also agree with the 'juice that the II is a dedicated single purpose race car or street machine. No going back to stock w/o a TON of unwork then rework.
What is your history with the 'maro ? Any sentimental value ? If so, are you willing to part with it FOREVER? Some cars we put together for the fun of it and get bored and are ready for something new and different. Others we have for years and years but need to make a 'change' (sure has a different ring to it nowadays, huh? ) :roll: but are willing to let 'er go. What exactly do you want to DO with a dedicated racecar/street machine ? How often ? Is it WORTH the time and effort to feed ,clothe, and house a high maintenance inhabitant of your shop ? Both cars are nice examples of car crafting. |
No history other than owned it for a couple years. I did all the mechanical work to it, installed the ZZ4, rebuilt the front end, etc. I would have no problem parting with it forever, in fact, I really don't even like the car that much! I want to run footbrake the first year, then maybe consider moving up to whatever is next, I do want to race though! Not just real street, I also really think my boys would love being part of the pit crew.......Family fun!!

Rudy i have to agree with Brian, If you want to race then trade but remember you can drive the Camaro anytime you want, If it were me i would keep the Camaro :!: :!:

if you want to go racing why not trade? you still have a street car right? so you would have the best of both worlds. I wish I could have 2 toys sitting in the garage but I would need a bigger garage first! your camaro is nice but its not original, like you said you cant build the car he is offering you in trade for what you are asking for your car. I loved reading your post about the first time you took your car to the track, now imagine pushing that magic button (transbrake) holding the gas pedal to the floor and releasing the magic button when the last yellow hits. All hell breaks loose!!! the first time I launched on a transbrake I could not even describe the rush, I had 2 foot brake cars before that, at their best ran 7.40's in the 1/8th, then I got the 84 Camaro and ran a 6.40 on my first pass and I lifted about 550 feet, my hands were shaking so bad from adrenilin that my wife had to help me take my helmet off!! If you want to go play and the car is as nice as it look, what the hell make the trade and go have some fun!

personally like both my choice is the camaro but thats me would love a street strip car patialy cause with the exeption of a little street racing started at secret local by old timers closest strip is like 100 miles a way so id need be able to cruise car shows and local burn out contests and be able to throw old ladyand kids in but hey jmo and desires

Me being a serious drag car lover, I would trade. You need to realize that with the nova. All street drivability is out the window. It will probably make short trips at best, mainly because the fuel cell wont carry enough fuel. Does it run on race gas or pump gas? That was the problem with my mustang, at 3 to 4 mpg and requiring 110 octane fuel. 25 mile road trips are maximum distance, but that is what I want, so that is what I got. I see your camaro has a few spots that will need attention soon and thats something to consider also. The nova would be an exciting ride for sure. But also a more strict maintenance scedule will have to be performed as well.

If you have no sentimental atachment to the camaro I'd trade in a heartbeat. The 66-67 ChevyII IS,in my opinionn THE BEST LOOKING car to make a drag car with. period. I love em.

If you want to race, then go for it. They are both nice, but it's either race it or cruise it.
