dparker may be on to something. did you have the block align honed, bored, or checked?

Yes as possibles to all of the above,& also are the rods the right way around on the pistons.Seems you have a bit of checking to do. good luck,Mark

did you break a ring during assembly?? Look for deep scratches in cylinder wall. Kris

Are you sure you have the correct bearings? Not a .010 instead of a STD for example.

TO SOME GUYS PUTTING A BRIGGS & STRATON TOGETHER IS A CHALLANGE. :P NOW HES TRYING A V8 :shock: WHEN HE SCREWS UP THE CHEVY HE WILL ONLY BE HALF AS BROKE AS HE WOULD BE WITH A MOPAR :!: :!:

Well...this is another thread by the same guy......


was getting my area ready to start throwin my small block back together before I pick it up from the machine shop and I noticed the old rod bearings have 030 stamped in them but the mains say STD. I didnt have to have the "H" rods reworked because they were fine. My question is, does that mean the crank has already been turned 030? and if so can it be turned anymore or is it junk? it was all supposed to be brand new stuff.
