I believe it is not NHRA legal to stick weld chromoly metal and also not a good idea in general.
It is also not a good idea to do any stick welding on any drag race car component ?

I'm assuming the weld-on brackets are mild steel and the rod it's self is CM ?

Stick weld would not be a problem. HOWEVER any arc welding on the rear end HOUSING must be done in short segments as arc welding uses a ton more heat and you could warp the housing if not careful. The exact type rod I cannot advise on. Personally I would use just a regular mild steel rod.
Before ANY welding, unhook the battery as electronics can be damaged.

Stick welding is "NOT" legal in any sanctioning body. Mild steel can be tig or mig welded. Chrome moly must be tig welded.

He didn't specify where he was going to be running, so I ASS-U-ME-d that it was just street use and not on a sanctioned track. Stick would be strong enough for the street if done properly. Thanks for that teachable input though ! Good info to have... :D

What I was going by was typically an anti-roll bar is used in a drag car application. So I ASS-U-ME-d (LOL) it is a drag car. As far as stick welding being strong enough for the street, absolutely.

I've got anti roll bars on both ends of both my road racing cars, my Gearhead Motel, and my shop truck.
