Got a 11 sec. 1/4 SBC door car. Changed the fuel system over to run E85. What do I need to do to the timing? More or less total timing? How about the timing curve, how should I set that up?
TIA. Brian

I have not changed anything else on my car yet. I bet my best time first weekend out. The timing on my 12.6.to1 383 sbc is locked out.

If drag race only 36 degrees, and lock the distributor.

Test it. It will tell you what it wants. Start at 36 like suggested, and try 2 less, 2 more, and then look at mph. It will tell you what it wants. I would also lock the time out.
There is no "set" number for any engine, like a sbc likes 36, or a BBC likes 38, or 18 degree heads want 28 tops, etc etc. The engine will tell you what it wants. Listen to it, do not try to tell it what it wants. That doesn;t make the most power

On a N/A engine the timing and plug heat range are much the same as you run with gas. Depending on what heat you run in the engine, you may need a little more than gas. I'd experiment with 140 to 160 degrees at the starting line, see what your combination likes.

Thanks everybody for your replies, much appreciated. I'm just trying to help a friend, who converted his car over to E/85.
