We are working on my sons project K5 Blazer 4x4. It is an 88 model with the TBI system 350. In about 2 years it will be considered an antique, eligible for antique tags and exempt from any emmisions laws here in Texas so we are thinking about going to a tunnel ram and carbs and aluminum heads with a hyd. roller cam. This motor is all factory original and has the center valve cover bolt iron heads. We are wanting to put pre-87 style aluminum heads and a 383 claimer kit bottom end in it since basically this motor will just be to get it on and off the trailer and make a cruise night every once in a while and will never see any high rpm running at all. Will the old pre-87 heads fit this block? Will these blocks handle a .060 over bore ok even if we have a compression ratio between 11:1 and 12:1? Also I noticed that they make the rotating assemblies with either 5.7 or 6 inch rods. Why is there 2 different lengths?

why run a tunnel ram ( even though im rather fond of them) , 11:1 , and aluminum heads on a trailer queen id go with cheaper iorn heads and like 9.5:1 for pump gas and flat tappet cam i dont see any sence in spending a bunch of money if it all gonna be all show and no go you can still make a beautiful looking car and have it still sound beefy with iorn heads and oem parts and cheaper non roller cam the comp cams thumpr cams have a great sound to them
just my opinion good luck with it though

-loganI may do a set of iron heads if I can get them at a reasonable price. Wouldn't mine running a set of the the World Products heads. I just like the aluminum units because I can shed some weight and get more out of the lift kit we are going to install. I love tunnel rams too...
