cheap and stubborn replacing my own headliner

i am replacing black fuzzy hair headliner
with some tweed i have laying around and would like tips on doing it right .
the car is my 53 plymouth Cranbrook 2 door
so far i figure to use old skin for pattern
here is the tricky part they had the bows on outside of headliner?
supporting the fuzzy. was that lazy or the norm?
the bows fold over,
do you take and start up front and to one side and spread the liner till past door frame,attach hanging plate. [thing which attaches skin to ceiling rail]
then stretch it across other side put in place with other hanging plate ,
then fold back up the bows that have been covered to stretch liner and repeat process with second half of liner?
any tips will help

Unless you have a headliner already sewn up EXACTLY, you'd be better off having one made by a pro or buying a premade liner.IMHO

i have actually seen a video after my post and you are right
but given the simple shape to deal with and a neighbor that does window repair, a seam tress friend i am going for it.
