man brings me his 1993 ford explorer with a staight drive transmission. said that the clutch got real stiff and then he felt something pop/break.

The mastercylinder pushrod is what he broke, so I replaced that and bleed the clutch. Now with the engine running cannot put the trans in any gear.

Any ideas or does anybody know whats goin on???

Leaning towards the release bearing(slave cylinder) because after bleeding the system, clutch pedal got real stiff.

Them darn Rangers of that era are a REAL pain in the clutch ! If ya replace the slave it'll blow the release cylinder. A MAJOR pain to bleed the system also :x :x :x

The release (throwout) bearing probably failed and melted the plastic slave cylinder effectively locking the slave in place when it cooled off. Forcing the clutch pedal broke the master cylinder. The slave is internal on that so you will need to pull the tranny anyway, might as well put the whole clutch assembly in it.
