ok so i have a brand new 400sbc in a truck, got it started once but the carb wasnt right so it died, after this the starter wouldnt crank it anymore, so i went and tested the starter and it was bad so i got a new one, it wont turn it either. i kno for a fact tht the valve timing is right"double and triple checked tht it was dot to dot"
so what could it be, there is oil in the top end so i kno the oil pump is working crank rods and bearings all new and oil clearences were good, can the transmission lock up and engine? ive never heard of it happenin but i guess its possible?
ps. i eaven backed off the valves tht were open and it still wouldnt turn

Are you sure the engine didn't hydraulically lock up? Can you turn it over by hand? Have you pulled all the plugs and tried cranking it over?

You cannot compress a liquid. If you dumped so much fuel into the engine that it filled the the area of the combustion chamber, it would lock up the engine and probably bend rods or break something. The engine will be wrecked. That is why I asked if you tried turning it over without the sparkplugs. Without the plugs, the fuel would be forced out of the sparkplug hole and the engine would turn over. Then you could do a compression check to start checking for damages.

Pull out all the plug's and see if you can turn it over :!: :!:

Pulled plugs and no difference so, but I went back to it and out of nowhere the starter doesn't engage the felxplate anymore it just grazes the teach

Now on Mopars there is a difference between straight drive and auto starters. Check the starter end where it goes into bellhousing make sure it isn't binding up when you tighten it up.
