Not very good, trans broke on a motor pass of all things. It went 9.19 at 139 and drove it back to the trailer and went to pull it up for second round of qualifing and the car would not move. I was not prepared to have to spend money on a trans so i hope the spare holds up.
Still trying to gets some pictures posted!
Good luck to all!

Hey Sam, Yes it's a plastic circle track nose for an MC, and narrowed 4 inches. Has the same shape as the stock ''78 Challenger/Sapporo (Mitsibushi Mopar)
Looking to get a custom Graffiti artist paint job with a bio-mechanical theme, all in semi gloss/flat paints done with rattle cans.

Still not so good so far. My trans brake isn't working. The solenoid is working, but it want hold when I push the gas. May have something to do with breaking the imput shaft the other week. IDK didly about transmission. Either it works or it does't and right now "it doesn't" so I'm gonna pull it tomorrow and send it and the converter off for repair. Still haven't been able to test the nos yet.

That's what I'm thinking. It doesn't back up on the brake, runs and it shifts fine, the brake just want hold.
Pulling it out tonight and sending it and the converter to Alan Pope. I'll let you know what he finds.
And drilling holes in the helment tomorrow. No jets, just staright nos from the hose, Full strength!

Well had a pretty good time sunday testing spare trans. The car slowed down with spare trans and converter. I only had a 3800 stall to put in were i had 5500 before, I sent out 5500 to get flushed out and check cant wait to get back.
I got called out by some bro's and the race was on i had to take off my wheelly bars and run heads up pro tree. As they allways do he pulled both bulbs before i got a chance to prestage. I just took my time rolling in making him wait and hell he just tried to get the jump and pulled the get big red mator. The money was good. I dont know if i had them covered as they seen my motor pass and the next on the spray. The race was for everything turned on spray for spray well hell ya just my kind of race. He got out three cars and i was surprised that i pulled on him up to 600ft and then he lifted. I had a good time with some friends that have never been before.

We did end up getting rained out the 23rd. Good thing for me. Pulled my rearend to put a new yoke on so I can get my data recorder on. When we pulled the cover off it had 7 broken or cracked teeth. The broken ones looked fresh. Could have been really bad and taken the tranny with it.   Have the new parts on the way. Should be ready for the race on the 15th.

Went testing on 4/30. Trying out the changes: Heads ported, new cam, bigger carb, and new headers. Had problems with the carb on the first two passes, lifted at 1000' and coasted to a 9.28@ 140. Put my old carb back on then my crank trigger started acting up. Wouldn't rev past 6500 and went 9.17@ 145. I'm pretty sure getting the rpm's up to 7400 it would be 9.0's maybe even better.
All said I'm happy with the results. :D

It's amazing how sometimes something will break and while repairing it, we find a more serious issue that could have had catastrophic results......

Finally made it out last weekend. Got about 35 pounds off the car and the new motor in the dragster is running solid. It was 4.762 to the 1/8 and 7.501 to the 1/4. Really right were I want to be 1/4 mile so no -15 suit is required.
The S-10 was a bit surprising. I was figuring the 11.30-.11.40 range but when the dust settled it was 6.80 to the 1/8 and 10.72 to the 1/4. The 4.10 gear and 1.76 glide combo is perfect for the small tire. It doesn't lift a wheel and is 1.52 to the 60'. This was a budget build.

gearing toward 1st race of the year memorial weekend on that Monday...looking so far at a 8 car shoot out..could end up with a few more...a new class being put back into the Mix called Nostalgia 10.5...3k to win !!!

yeah I know what you mean...my car is the closest thing to the original 10.5 car as it gets..steel roof and qtrs, stock wheel base 2x3 main frame rails, stock firewall...the only thing that mine had done to it that the original 10.5 class guys didn't have back in the day was front struts which could be changed back pretty easy.
back in the late 90's a 5.0 or 5 teen could still win you a 10.5 race...not anymore.......there will still be 4.50's and 60's run this up coming memorial weekend....I am just hoping my car can win a few rounds..I got a good 60ft...gotta chop the tree down get out there quick and hope they cannot run me down in time...lol

No matter what rules you change / add a class (which usually means you are just dividing a class) if it's popular guys that do have the unlimited race budgets will get in it. Dividing classes is what's hurt mud racing so much. The more classes you have the fewer trucks you have in each class which means less payout, which means fewer trucks come back next month until there is not much left. I fully understand what you're trying to do and hope it works, but it seldom does for us.
Racing on any level in any motor sport is gonna have guys that have the money to ruin all the fun for us average folks. lol
Put a $20,000 buy out rule on the cars and that wil teach the rich folks from spending so much! lol
GOOD LUCK AT THE RACE BJ! Let us know how you do.

Bjuice, I have a 70 nova with a stock front end, it dose have wilwood brake setup and hubs. The rest of the car has 9" mw, 4 link, wish bone, anti roll, Koni coil overs 12 ponit adj. 2x3 frame all crommoly bars in side and was cert to 7.50 and now they will only cert to 8.50 untill i change some of the bars around cock pit. I have it cert to 8.50 and going to have change it at a cost of 1000.00 to 1500.00. The body has glass hood, doors, deck lid, front bumper, the rest of it is steal. Has the stock firewall with front and mid engine plates. The car is very well built and drives great for how old it is. The car is one of the first true 10.5 street cars built in orlando fla.
Rabbit, I agree but they need to make the playing feild even. There is some of us that like to race and not watch. I take my car to some races where i know i stand a chance and hope the other guy fouls or like bjuice said cut down the tree and make them chase me down.

Had some teeth broken off the ring gear so replaced R&P, new bearings, new yoke. Picked up a high speed vibration. Got that fixed then had a needle and seat start acting up when I was testing. The fun never ends. Next points race June 5th.

We had a Sat-Sun race this weekend. Saturday was $2,000 to win. Won first round then the rain came. So I'm still in that one when we make it up. Sunday was going into third round, tree started to come down went to get on the two step it about died. Finally revved up was dead late nearly ran him down. Went 9.68 on a 9.69. Don't know if he actually beat me to the stripe or if I lost on the breakout.

Man sounds like the starting line is in good shape to put down a 1.12 60f but track temp that high would have me on edge a little. Sounds like the new tires are working too. 8)

Finally made a few good passes yesterday although it was 98* and terrible racing conditions. Track was cut a little to deep and to wet for good et's but...
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t288/rabbit548/CopyofScannedImage.jpg
I'm usually a tenth to a tenth and a half faster on my 60' times and the same on the end (200' track). With the track being slow my reaction time was crappy too, but I haven't run on a tree in a while either.
This is still all motor. I did finally get all my nos stuff hooked up, but I have to get a new converter before I hit it.
I've got a new single speed transmission and it's letting the motor turn to 8,300 to 8,500 on every pass so I've gotta make a 4link adjustment or maybe even a gear change to get the rpm's back down a little. It NEVER ends does it?! lol
Good thing was we made 4 passes, nothing broke and brought home a little money. :D

99° today but it made it easy to dial. My car ran 9.783, 9.781, 9.80, 9.816. The track was breaking down a little from the heat. 60's were slowing.

Finished the new 540 This spring, made a few test passes and first race was in April.Second dail in pass the ring and pinion let go,took three or four weeks to put that back together and went to back the car out of the shop,no go.!! When the ring & pinion let go it took out the trans input shaft.Pulled the trans and went through it ,sent the converter back to PTC for a freshen up.
Went back to the track three weeks ago, made nine passes and got down to the last three cars, first full race in a year&half. Foot braking the car and got beat on the tree,my .015 to his .007.Good run ,and i was happy, put it in the money.!! 1/8 mile racing car is running 5.60s,went back two weekends ago first pass out of the trailer, the harmonic damper spit the guts out at the the stripe,(used innavator west damper)had clutches stuck in my brand new rad,and took out the trans cooler.Damn the luck.!!!!!32 year marriage is on the rocks ,but I'm going RACING in two weeks.!!!LOL
p.s. ran the car for five years and only changed the oil and plugs, never hurt a single part,go figure.?THAT'S RACING FOR YA.!!!!!!!

As for your time I seen someone that went 4.40 in the 1/8th and on the 1/4 he went a 6.60. He had the same setup on the 1/4 as he did on the 1/8th. that might give you an idea of how fast you can be in the 1/4.

Thats how my quad is colored. Yellow with the same black stickers :D
Old school paint but I think it still looks good today. Reminds me of the Hannah, Glover days.
You speaking of Bob Hannah ? He lives right here in lil ol' Nampa,Idaho !

Brian thats pretty neat you know Sr! what happened to his mohawk?
oh yeah SR and I closed down the clubs a many nights back in the day. I stayed up in his cabin on the lake and would travel with him to Many match races week after week.....wow !!! some of this stuff I would have to tell you in person...lol....lots of woman, lots of crown royal, bar room brawls and of course racing.....As for the Mohawk it left with The mad professor sunglass gimmick ..
Scotty Sr is still very loyal to his friends that were with him at the begining...he made it big time but was always one of the Boys...i could call him for anything i needed and still can....remind me one day to tell you about his boat and we all get a wild hair to put the ONSAT promod motor in that fountain boat on a dare...whew you would get a real good kick i think.....lol
quann and Mitch Stott are my cousins who just happen to be the pro-mod world champion's in 1999 just before jr took the title in 2000....it was good tight knit fun...
thanks for allowing me to bring back those memories.....of course now I am a straight lace...just race...no booze, only one woman and of course christ now in my life...its all good they all except me how I am thats how you know you have true friends
that pic you see of me and SR are real with a lot of past between us...We been Buds a long time !!!

Well started out the year braking trans and putting in spare trans and converter. Then testing and slowed down, to winning alittle gruge race and finding out that the converter was leaking from a weld spot. I went FTI and bought new trans and convert for some $$$$$, went to test again and it was so hot that it just blew the tires off. I had a chance on making some money on a gruge race but as hot as the track was (141`) and talking to the owner of the track on how fast the track went away we just loaded up and went home.
After all that was going threw the valves and found that i had a roller lifter going bad so now its down and at the machine shop and more $$$$$. :(
I am going to pull the rear and check it out knowing it might be the next thing. Im going to have a new car, i have replaced most of the other parts on the car at the first of the year all ready, tires, had the shocks rebuilt by koni, new springs, brakes, all new joints, hell everything it seems like. It looks like some of the races i was going to make in July are out as its going to be first of August hopefully when its done. I might give Bjuice a run for his money :P
We are also going to paint it while its down, its ten years old or more and time. Look out i am going to be hell on wheels with all the new parts, should make it threw the rest of the year when its done, have some good races coming up here in fla.
Good luck to all who are racing.

Tell ya What I would give Scott Duggins ( Par ) a call if I were you if I had 12k to 15k to spend on an engine up front...I know he just took in a 632ci Big chief engine on a trade from My cousin...all top of line parts..sheet metal intake..etc...you can probably get that Bad boy for $12,000 to $14,000 or so.....its a 35k engine to build up front..
Now if ya Wanting to go small block...I got the perfect BULLET PROOF rotating assembly for you..I mean Bullet proof !!!...good for 300hp up thru 3,500 hp ( probably More). with no issues.........all brand new except crank and it has minimum run time....
I will sell to you for $2700.00 and its over $7,500 worth of rotating Assembly...its for the Heavy Hitters...
here are the parts-- all this was purchased from Scott Duggins ( Par racing Engines)..All New except Crank and its almost New.
1- Sonny Byrant ( Billet) crank shaft...with Big block Snout Cost Over $4,000 New. ( pic attached)
2- New Billet Lent Rods with Bearings and Carr (SPS-A-21) Rod Bolts..Price These Rods and Bolts...close to $500 just for Rod Bolts...$2,000 for the Rods

here is the Thing :
Just remember if you try and go the cheaper route and SAVE $500 you still gonna pay $2,000 to $2,200 in a Much cheaper set of ( Rotating Assembly) parts that will only hold up to a fraction of the Hp and Abuse these parts I have for sale can take....and in time you will most liklely have to replace the cheaper parts 1 or 2 times while the Parts I am selling will be there from now on..
Get these parts Now and leave them sitting in your garage until you are ready for the other stuff...you will kick yourself if you don't...Doesn't make any sense for anyone to let $500 or $600 stand in your way from having a top of the line engine that will pay for itself over and over again.
Now if you want a turn Key SBC 406ci...right now its a Pump gas engine...built by clements Racing Spartanburg S.C. and dynoed 465hp and about the same Torque...only 75 to 100 passes ( All by me and the wife )....you can change the cam shaft in it and angle mill the heads to up the compression and get 550 to 600hp out of her real easy...I had this engine built for my wife several years ago and didn't want it too wild...It has a real small cam in it (520 lift) but very, very responsive..I have dyno sheets on it
$5,000 on this engine and you can pick up in person Or I will ship for the cost of the Shipping only...I will do all the package work for FREE..RLS freight liners is the way to go..we crate it up and they will deliver to your door step for a reasonable cost.Engine is Still in the car (69 camaro )...Stock 400 crank and Block, I know its steel rods but cannot remember if Carrillo or some other type but they are steel I will guarantree that. Dart Iron Eagle heads with steam holes drilled 215 runners 2.05 valves...aluminum forged pistons also had them thermal coated just for extra protection for little cost back when it was assembled.
Vic jr intake, holley 750 cfm..( off the shelf) no work done to it, still has Horn..you can find another 20/25 hp going with a more trick Carb..Msd Billet distibuter...starter ...turn Key ready to go..
http://clementsraceengines.com/
you cannot go wrong with either package I am offering you..
just keep in mind...cause I know you are sort of New at this...if you go building a motor new from the start...you gonna have a Good bit of money in it using lower to Mid-level parts.
Keep in mind the rotating parts I am offering is PRO-PARTS....the 406ci Engine I am offering you would cost you over $12k to build ( with add-ons)..depending what type parts you use..and this is not inlcuding the carb, water pump, starter, wires etc..normally engines are priced without this stuff....add an extra $1200 to $1500 to anyone's engines that qoute you a price to Build for the carb, starter, distributer, water pump..depending what you go with
this engine of mine I am offering you is 100% turnkey...
I know I posted this in the open and normally would PM this But I wanted others to see what I have and would make them the same Deal.
Chris ( Bowtie454) Purchased a personal 406ci engine from me 5 or so yrs ago and he had a great time with the engine....

Hey Brian I am going to be getting the motor after I get outta here. Yes I will be throwing 15,000 - 20,000 at it all at once only getting the best parts to put inside it. I talked it over with Bobby already and he knows what I am looking for.
In case I havent mentioned it on here the ride is going to be around a 506 with twin 90mm turbos. NO NITROUS!!! :P It will be all motor for right now. Maybe sometime in the future I MIGHT put Nitrous in it but not sure yet.
Thanks for the great offer but right now I am gonna have to pass on it. With me not being in the states I wouldnt be able to sleep at night cuz I would be wondering if someone stole or the soon to be ex sold it.

Awesome Curtis...keep us posted...also post up some Pics..
Yes contagious is an all Nos motor...Bigh Chief 632ci...running a very tight special built NOS converter and a 360 gear with a 33 inch tall 10.5 tire...
hitting it with 28/32 spread on 1st hit ( around 260 hp shot)..700 hundredths out bringing in 30/34 spread ( around 320 hp shot)...starting with 31 degrees timing and bringing out a total of 13 degrees...so yes hitting it with close to 600 Shot of NOS total..... we also use the gear retard to ramp timing in and out (normally between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm) depending on how the track is...its a lap top digital game this day and time..
we also weigh right at 3,000 lbs with 10 inch tires....as you can see I run a very high gear..with the large shot of NOS its what it calls for.....you could not put a 4.30 or 4.56 gear in it hitting this much Nos...It would be way too Violent..

I wanted to change converters so I stuck another one in it sunday night and ran it on monday it went identical et's as the old did though. Split times from 60 to 330 6 runs was 2.033 until I lost at 9 cars it slowed up to 2.046.

Its great to here everyone is having fun and making a few dollars. I hope to be up and running at the end of the month.
I have run the night of fire and had a blast doing it with my friends and family. Its one of the toughest quick 32 feilds, it seems like all the heavy hitters come out. The only thing i dont like is we always run after the jets and the track is pretty slippery so i wait and pull in late to the staging lanes.
Well good luck to eveyone. Just got to love this thread and the guys and there cars and stories. :)

I have a freind that has a 7s ride, the car ran fine before he had it painted and ran into all kinds of elc problems. I geuss the paint job and over spray on some of the wires had something to do with it. He ended up rewiring the car and all his problems were gone. He dosent know way other than maybe static electricity. Sounds carzy but it worked.

Yeah the only thing you got to do is run a chain from your rear axle to the ground. All it has to do is just sit on top of the ground to be grounded. I have used this technique every time I paint a car. It also helps to keep the lint and stuff from coming off of your clothes and onto your paintjob.

We had our last points race yesterday. It was great. #1 and #2 in our class ended up racing in the final. #2 won and took the championship. I went out at 4 cars and finished 3rd in points. Not bad for my first year in points and only second full year driving. I'm happy :D :D . Won 2 races, finished in the money numerous times. Made enough to cover what I spent this year.
Bob Frey was at the track filming us for a sportsman track of the month segment that will air during the NHRA sportsman show on Oct. 1st. It was great having him announce some while he was there. I wish I could have recorded what he was saying about me. It's not every day you get a living legend in our sport at your track.
Not finished racing this year just done with points, can't wait until next year to try it again.

It also has been a down year for me, so turning on a win light in a final was a great thing to see. I made a big change in the last week to my racing program, I took my Ron Injection off and replaced it with a 1250 APD Alky carb. Not only did the carb run almost identical it was more consistent from what I can see so far. Big thumbs up to APD on a great carb.

That's a nice way to end the year!! I'd much rather start with a bad season then win a big race at the end than vice versa. Makes you look forward to next season knowing your on your game. I hate waiting all winter to see how all the changes you made over the winter are gonna work out.

It may be not be much, but you are the best damn mud racer I have ever known or talked to. Go out there & make this a weekend to remember forever... ROCK THAT TRACK.

Thanks Greg. It was nice to have time to hang out and talk after we were done for the day.
I had a good time also that day, car ran real good, just the guy driving drove like it was the first race of the year instead of the last.

A short vid. from last weekend in Fl. Don't laugh to bad at my passes. I hate going to a race not prepared. I put a new converter in Thursday night and hooked up my nos at the track Friday. This was the first time I ever went down the track with it on (a 200 shot speed tech fogger with a 6 point spread -10* with VP Q16 fuel. I did hit it in the field to check the plugs one time before the race) I gotta get a little higher gear 'cause as you can see it was wound up a little. I had the front and rear shocks set to tight. Track didn't hook very well because it was to dry and sandy, but it's my fault for not getting off my butt and having my truck dialed in a long time ago.
Check me out at 28 sec. and at 1:47. (I ended up 5th)
Check out Rajun Cajun at 1:03. (he got 2nd)

Found a new way to loose a race last nite.Going into the secound round of a 5.70 index race, had a hour between rounds and the car was cold.Decided to warm it up , and the motor started making strange noise's,almost like a rod or broken rocker. This is what i found after I got it in the trailer.Couldn't make the call for the next round.

Could be support problem. The first two tubes are slip tubes to fit around the steering shaft.

To sum up the year it ended up pretty good. I ended with a pretty good profit. (if nothing happens at the next two races.) At the last race of the year I hold a track record that pays $1,000 to the fastest of the year so I gotta go to that one! Sure hope nobody shows up for that race!!

This is probably going to jinx me for posting this, but I'm kinda excited about it so far.
Finally getting the truck working better and the last few races have been pretty fun tunning the truck and nos. Here is a short vid from a few weeks ago. Not this pass but one of my other passes was within .50 off a national record time. This race was just a local weekend race, but it is one of the tracks that we have national races so it is comparative(somewhat anyway). Just as soon as the last race I'm pulling the motor out for a rebuild. Going to make some changes to make it a more of a nitrous motor. Just like everybody told me. Nitrous is like crack once you hit it you want more. They weren't kidding either!
Once I take everything apart I'll be selling the entire rotating assembly + cam, lifters and springs if anybody is interested. After I take it all apart and inspect it I'll post it on RJ.
I changed the rear gear last night and still do have a few other changes to make over the winter time, but nothing major for next year.
Click on the pic. It's actually a video.

Hurt most of the year and was busy working and helping out my buddies stuff a bit
Ran once at the end with a new combo went the fastest the chevelle ever went, and its not even close to being dialed in, and the driver (me ) needs more seat time my 60's were shi... and I did not even trans brake the car, only foot brake. I do have high exceptations for 2012. should be a legit mid/high 9 sec street car on nut and gods know how fast with a small kit ????
Stay safe everyone from

200' I'm between 75 to 80mph. Most tracks don't have mph, but we do race at a few that have it.

Wabb: for all of the hard work you have done, it could not happen to a better guy... you earned it man. You seemed like you needed to have a good season, or you were getting bored.
