im looking at a 85 tommy mauney built race car built in 97 shouldnt there be a tm race car tag located somewhere and didnt he build all his cars with 9 inch fords not dana rear ends?

That chassis is 14 years old and who knows what the owners might have changed on it. Your best bet would be to contact Tommy and see what he has to say about it.

wouldn't be hard to find out if its a TM car or not...post up some pic's...I can look at the welds and tell you if its not a TM car...I have had many friends past and present work for TM
for the record TM was placing chassis tags on his cars 14 yrs ago but as the other gentlemen said who knows what the owners have changed over the years

hmmmmmmm ?? I looked at the pics and from what I could tell its a decent quality Tig Weld and could have been the quality from tm's shop from years ago..I knew both wolfman and jethro who both welded for TM and its comparable to their work from what I could tell..wolfman also welded up the cage in a 65 nova i had.
now something said in the article I will call bs on right now...he said the engine is "Fulton Competition " motor....Now if he is referring to Gene Fulton its A BUNCH OF horse Hockey...Gene Fulton doesn't use eagle anything in his engines...that I can assure you.
Makes me scratch my head after reading that one

nothing wrong with eagle on budget motors for weekend warriors and people that play around..Gene Fulton builds and sells nothing but high dollar motors with high dollar parts even his cheap motors is high dollar...cost a man 65k to walk out with a 800+ci Gene Fulton turnkey engine.
he will use a 4k sonny bryant crank vs a $1200 eagle crank...you not gonna sell Scotty Cannons pro-mod sponsors #4 800ci turn key engines for 65k a piece with Eagle rods ,cranks etc.....
not trying to Bash on Eagle, they are great at what they do and that is good solid budget parts for budget racers....not 3,000 to 5,000 hp world class engines
call him and ask him why he doesn't use that stuff....lol...but let it be known I warned you beforehand.... :D

are you racing in a national circuit and in contention for a world title ?...if so your in trouble...if you just playing around having fun your ok with that junk in your motor..lol :D ...matter of fact its ok to run a junkie motor as long as you know your role.....I have a junky motor in my 69 camaro right now..its lots of fun..but thats all it will ever be....following us now ?....lol 8)

No I'm just an average weekend racer, no national circuit. Iknow what your saying I'm just giving out some shxt for the comment about the brand of crank shaft I'm running in my junk. My junk Nova is lots of fun too. :wink: We're on the same page.

is scat stuff just as bad i only run 560 in the eight and 890 in the quarter imjust a bracket racer but when this guy with tommy mauney built car with no tm rc tag and a eagle bottom end built buy fulton competition it didnt sound right thats why i asked you guys. thanks
Yes Scat is JUNK too but is fine for what your doing..

eagle ,scat, etc...all good for 5.80- 6.0 et in big block stuff (IMO)..I had rather go with Callies or Lunati for the 5.80/8.90 car...but lets say this I have a 10.5 nova that runs 4.60's and I would not have a scat nor eagle in the bottom end OF MY 632CI....sonny bryant in mine..
