I was just wandering is there a technical reason race teams dont run chrome wheels in Nascar . Seems the only team I've seen that runs them and has since the team started is Michael Waltrips team . Just wandering

I wonder if a chrome wheel weighs more. Maybe it's the extra cost.

Some of the 'show/display' cars will have chrome wheels.
Tires are mounted/demounted dozens of times in a NASCAR wheels life. Chrome chips/peels from flexing, weighs and costs more, and can be blindingly bright during a pitstop.
Waltrip's wheels on his 'go' car were probably 'Almost chrome' powder coated.

Back in the 70's they had chrome wheels and had problems with the weights coming off. MW's are power-coated.
