my bro is changing cars.. was running a 85 cutlass weighting 2900 pounds....456 gears.... w/10 slicks and a built 355 and a turbo 350 foot braking it... 3500 stall....was running 12.50's.

now he going to a 75 vega thats weights 2200 pounds...456 gears....14 x32 tire and his 355 motor and a 3500 stall... glide w/brake.........

we are taking guess's at to what it will in the quarter mile?

11.7 is my estimate.

I guess some where close to 11.90 at best for weight only because the tall tire with the same gear and a glide will put the engine to sleep at your power level, canceling most of your potential gains from the weight reduction. If you put the same 3 speed trans in the vega that you have in the cutlass you will go faster, 2 tenths or so.

I was figuring 11.8 with the glide , but thought the transbrake would improve the launch to about the same as a footbrake turbo. I also went with the smaller frontal area of the Vega vs the Cutlass. So, I'll stay with 11.7 as my estimation.

that about what i figure too. yeah he dropped weight but gained alot more rotating mass as well......... he's been talking s**t all week ... damn i cant wait till the reality check hits :D

If the car is set up right (suspension ect) I think it would probably run in the low 11.40s.

now he wants to go to a 5500 stall and thinks he will get into the 10's

WHAT DID YOU REMOVE TO GET THAT G-BODY DOWN TO 2900 LBS?

jeff..... the car was a rot box! he bought it for the motor and drivetrain.... it had nothing in it for floors.... the only thing that was holding the carpets up was the exhaust......not s**t  everything else that could be removed was....but the doors and seats. it may off been about 3k... cant remember what it weighted when we scaled it?

well.... we dyno'd my bro's vega..... spun it to 7k and it made 505 hp at the flywheel and 474 ft pounds of torque ........ 390 hp at the rear wheels. so what do u think it will run in the 1/4 now?

one thing confused me though... it made 474 pounds of torque at just over 3k and then flattened out......but it has a 5500 stall! does that make sense?
