After thinking long and hard here is a few suggestions, and reasons behind the my thinking.

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc.
Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure.
1. Term Limits.
12 years only, one of the possible options below..
A. Two Six-year Senate terms
B. Six Two-year House terms
C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms
2. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.
3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people.

4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.
5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
7. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.
8. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/11.
The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.
Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!!!!!

These are just my opinions and i'm sure a lot will agree to disagree, but as i said

ill prolly get in trouble for this but first thing id do is close borders to the south. and and if they couldnt prove that three generations back they came to this country with the proper paper work bye bye just cause their illegal parents gave birth in this country dont make the kids us citizens in my book. then the fat cats in the house ,senate ect 35% pay cut. and tax the crap out of them for years of getting fat off the workin mans back. next cut th releif fund money that goes to foreign lands and put it back into the people in this country who need it. and heres another that prolly make waves but...rereform that fing health bill my thoughtsare the hospitals and tech side of it should work together and share their skills and tech instead who ever has the most money and insurance gets the best help second part is after medical bills are more reasonalbe make the insurance companiesa cut the cost so the average man can afford it, but not make it manditory to have cause i know little mom and pop buisnesses that if made to get health insurance at current rates will cause them to close the door jmo and rants

I agree that an Amendment is needed. The problem is :

•Two-thirds of both houses of Congress must vote to propose an amendment, or

•Two-thirds of the state legislatures ask Congress to call a national convention to propose amendments. (This method has never been used.)

To Ratify Amendments

•Three-fourths of the state legislatures approve it, or

•Ratifying conventions in three-fourths of the states approve it. This method has been used only once -- to ratify the 21st Amendment -- repealing Prohibition.

The Supreme Court has stated that ratification must be within "some reasonable time after the proposal." Beginning with the 18th amendment, it has been customary for Congress to set a definite period for ratification. In the case of the 18th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd amendments, the period set was 7 years, but there has been no determination as to just how long a "reasonable time" might extend.

Of the thousands of proposals that have been made to amend the Constitution, only 33 obtained the necessary two-thirds vote in Congress. Of those 33, only 27 amendments (including the Bill of Rights) have been ratified.

Do you think those people that are in the House and Senate will vote themselves off their thrones?

Not if one of the new reps introduces a bill and it receives enough publicity by the media. Then people could notify their rep that they want a "yes" vote on it. Public pressure is the only way to get it nominated and approved.
