I just got off the phone a little while ago with Jacobs Performance Engines out of Columbus OH. We talked about building a large cubic engine for street duty/strip and came up with a 706ci with 10.5:1,conventional heads, custom intake and spacers and over a 1000hp plus NOS,sounded like about 16K would cover it. With that big of cubes the torque would be nuts! Just crazy stuff, lol!
Wonder what kind of a 4 gear std. trans would handle it?

Liberty or Jerico can handle your needs.

with that much power 2 gears would be more than enough

I'd try an Alan Pope, or Coan Power Glide!

Hey guys,I'm to old to be cut'in ringers but love to make straight line power. I've tried just about every engine combo one could try on the street so I'm stepp'in it up. I race a ProMod style car so know what hp is like. I'm old school so I think a monster engine and 4 gear would be a nice snack, lol! Just wanta bang some gears with to much power thats all........and stay between the ditches, lol!

If you decide to go with a jerico. Johnny hightower out of S.C. builds a mean Jerico tranny...you can google his name.
Also a Buddy of mine had Ed Horton help him with a straight axles (leaf spring) 66 chevelle...2x3 frame rail...with true 10 inch Tires...Anyhow the short of it..he is having Gene Fulton Build him a 706ci Pump gas Blown Engine, he already has a jerico sitting in the floor
I do not have a clue what this pump gas blown 706ci will make..lets just say 15lbs of boost as a reference point...Anyone care to Guess ?
i will get some pics of this car and post them...sort of reminds me of Smoky Unicks old car the way it sits etc...

Yikes blown yet, wow! But there is a curtain point that a blower just won't make as much boost as a smaller cube engine. If you talk to Oddy's they say 4.530 is max. bore they want to see in supercharger application. You can't build boost if you have garbage cans for cylinders, but it will look impressive.
