L 19 rod bolt torque spec?

What is the torque spec for a L19 rod bolt? h beam rod 7/16 with arp lube
in a bbc motor.

I tried to look it up on thier web site and gave up after 15-20 minutes,not user freindly at all.

Just looked at Eagle's web site and they list both set's of l 19 bolt's at 79flb

You're right it's not 72lbs. Here's the charts for Eagle and ARP, if you have Eagle bolts they are different than ARP. Below is the charts. If you have ARP bolts you'll need to know the pt #'s

What Do I Torque the Bolts To?
The first step is to identify which bolts you have. Eagle rods are offered with a variety of different bolts. Each of which has a different torque requirement. Proper bolt torque is paramount to rod strength and life. Eagle does not use "off the shelf" ARP bolts. Eagle has ARP custom make bolts to our specifications. DO NOT use torque specs for off-the-shelf ARP bolts. Here is a diagram of some important bolt identifying features.

The following chart shows the head of the bolt, the dimensions, and the proper torque spec. Be careful! the heads of some bolts look similar and some even have the same markings. DO NOT identify the bolt by the head alone. Verify dimensions also! If the head of your bolts do not match one of the pictures below - you do not have Eagle rods! Please consult the manufacturer of your rods for proper torque specs. Their torque spec is most likely different than ours! Always use ARP moly lube on the threads and under the head of the bolt when torquing!

Thanks for the chart.!!The rods are ohio crank h beams and i had them upgrade to the L 19 bolts,broke a gm 7/16 bolt and it cost me 10 grand to put this new motor together ,100 dollar upgrade seemed cheap.!!!!!!!

I upgraded my Eagle H beams to L-19's over the winter and I was going by memory and my memory doesnt serve me like it used too.
Figured if I chimed in somebody would correct me, I'm always messing up :x

That's O'K Charlie, i've got a set of Lunati promod rods with ARP L19's in my 434" and the torque specs from Lunati said torque to 72 lbs. and ARP says 75 lbs, go figure.

Torque varies with friction and lubricant.


Stretch doesn't. .0063" stretch is the same every time.


I have had ARP L-19 1/2" bolts on GRP rods vary 78-102 # to get .0063"-.0068".

I've got (3) 1/2 pints of ARP lubericant in my shop, I think mark is correct, on the stretch, i've never checked with the stretch but i think torque varies from alum. too steel rods also, I do occasionally check stretch, i have (2) .250 ball adapters that slide over the anvils of my micrometers

We mic and record the length of the new bolts and set them during the build by stretch only. You can then check the length of each bolt on rebuilds to see if any has lost it's elasticity and needs to be replaced.

I picked the middle of the road and went with 77flbs.Stretch is no doubt the best way to check,no guess work there.!!!!
