Hey Guys , I would like to come back to north Mississippi in October for another get together ..anyone interested in a weekend at Byhalia Dragway??
I really would like to see everybody that was at the last one and mayby some new faces...So Guys , check your maps , some of you aren't much furthur away than myself and Zipper... Lets set up a date and have some fun...let me know what you think,,,thanks,,,,Paul & Judy :D

There have been several guys do it. Needless to say they were told to pack em up and never come back!
You figure 1,200+hp in a 2,780lbs truck (with me in it), all home made runs, 1.10's 60' times on dirt, no windows or windshield of any kind, never been seen by any inspector NHRA before, etc Aint no need for me to go any further! lol . I have no idea any rules ( NHRA ),
but let me assure you I anit sceerd (sp) and you just might be supprised just how fast this old truck really is! :wink: If I can ever get my digital 7 box fixed we're gonna add a little nos to it.

To start with my roll cage is 1 1/2 ( .083) not 1 3/4. That much I do know.

BTW, if your faster than the mud you don't get dirty!

I'm kinda in the middle as far as driving distance so it doesn't matter to me. I travel a bunch anyway so I'm ok with where ever you decide.

Hey Todd i don't know if you're too far away, heck I'm 280 mi away, Maniac is about 240, and Earl & Gala (aka suicidebomb)drove down from Independence Mo. They liked it so much thay stayed almost a week, went to both Holly Springs and Byhalia. Motel rates are cheap and the weather will be great in Oct..

With a 44" tall tire in 2nd gear I actually can get up to 174mph tire speed at 8000 rpms. Put a 33" slick on it and I'm geared just about right for the 1/8 mile. I run a 5.67 gear. I would be the laughing joke of RJ forever if I did!

If I don't have to work on whatever weekend is picked I'll be there no matter where it is. I hardly ever work weekends, but we do have an OSHA / MSHA class every year in October and it'a always on Saturday. :

Oct. 16th O'K for me talked to Jimmy Smith and he definately wants to make it, Tracy S. also, and possibly another Ford car (yuk) JK, it's one bad motor scooter, if he makes it you will see. I still have to get my 434" in my car and build a 482" for an 1800 lbs tube chassis Dodge Datona injected on gas who also wants to be there i still have a lot of work to do on it, including setting up the injection. Rabbit there is a sand track just outside of Batesville Ms. that runs on sun. afternoon, i don't know what the payout is but there are some pretty good cars/trucks that run there. my house is only 10 miles away from the track so if you bring your truck i'd go and i'm sure Jimmy S. would also, even if you can't/don't bring your truck, we'd all like to say howdy to a fellow racer and RJ friend. Heck i wouldn't mind if James brought his 8 sec. Camero that he traded for, and i'll just bet that there willl be enought good tuners/minds at Byhalia the the car can get into the 6's ( James (midsouth hotrods)this is an open invitation to you you personally, all the BS that's gone on in the forum set aside)

No extra fees partner, you can drive your daily driver into the pits, all you pay is the spectator fees. Yes you can park with the people you come to see/meet $10.00 adults children under 12 free. We'll all be parked just to the right of the entry gate, right close to the bathrooms, you can bring beer in but no glass bottles please. I plan to be there about 4:00pm as i think most of the other guys do also.

Just a little heads up.... The Tbird made 7 footbrake passes last weekend at Hub City all within .003. Dead on dial no problem. Light no problem. Win no problem. Won 7 this year in 10 outings. Should run 5.40.. Not trying to pick on Charlie but we are goin to be loaded for bear. My sled should run 5.90 or better in electronics with the wheels 4ft in the air every pass. Get ready guys its gonna be a show. My last pass we retuned and put in on the bumper for 300 ft.

It's not over until the fat lady sings and i'm still trying to figure it out how to get my car out of the trailer with a flat tire without doing lot's of damage to the slick, i mean i can't even get it to take air and it's got tubes. I really stupid'ed out i never noticed last week that the passenger side slick was flat. It was fine when i took it off the open trailer and put it in the enclosed in 2009, but i must have ran over something by the shop and did some severe damage. I'm not giving up yet, i still have too tune it up, change the oil and cut the filter :oops:

If your car is fast and your in the footbrake program, you might make the fast 4 of footbrake.

Every weekend Mike (promoter announcer extraordinaire) takes the fast 4 cars of footbrake, pairs them up and runs them heads up on a .400 tree.

If you lose the 1st round of F4 you go back into the regular footbrake program in the following round (2nd, not 1st) if your qualified in the fast 4, you do not run the regular footbraker program till you lose, if you do lose, no buy back is required, if you win, you go on to the finals of F4 which runs when they call the 2nd round of FB up.

Now, if you lose in the finals you go on to the 3rd round of footbrake, again, no buy back required, and go on from there.

BUT, if you win the finals of F4, you win your entry fee back ($30) and a nice trophy. 8)
They try to make it worth your while, doing the heads up deal, it's just something they do to thank the faster cars for coming out, plus the crowd always loves a good heads up race.

Whoops, I might need to add this, if you win the F4 your still in the regular footbrake program in the following round (3rd, not 2nd).

In FB & PRO you can buy back twice, 1st & 2nd round.

Buy backs are $15 FB & $20 PRO. If anybody is confused by the fast 4 deal, shoot me a PM and I'll try to explain it clearer.

Just a heads up, most fast four cars normally qualify in the high to mid 5 sec range but I have seen 600 and slower cars make the field.
One more thing, Byhalia is a short 1/8---> 600 foot.

Well, from what I hear, Mr Charles Perkins of Bartlett,Tn. gets braggin' rights. I heard he was lookin' for all the RJ guys during fifth round, and they'd already trailered up and left. I also heard, that a certain Ford, was beat on a holeshot, in the third round, by one of the "Byhalia Bears", who incidently, cut a perfect light.

I just got home about 30 mins ago. Long trip, but it was well worth it. It was pretty cool meeting the MS gang. Just what you would expect, good people and a lot of fun. Mr Jimmy thanks for having us all at your shop and Maniac thanks for cooking supper for me!

I think a good time was had by all. .Got to meet a few new people and some great fellowship..we took over Jimmy Smith"s speed shop and the Cracker Barrell for lunch and ate a few burgers at the track . we didn't all do well at the track and some did real well..congrats to the money winners..my car did its job and ran on the number , just needs a new driver ,LOL.. I went 5 rounds, we cut up the money 8 ways, everyone walked away with $175, win or lose.

Yeah I got my butt handed to me in the fast four, I knew I was beat before I ever left the house, that thunderbird was exactly what I thought it was gonna be, a very fast, very clean machine, he laid down a stout 5.43 or 2 pass (can't remember) to beat my loosing 5.65.

Here's a weird stat, our mph was exactly the same.

111.08mph


If I missed meating anybody & saying hello, I'm sorrry, I sure meant too, it was a night I'll never forget, thanks to all.

Folks i just got back home from a 2 weeks stay in Ms., working on my house up there and built a 481 BB/C, i don't know how well it will run, the whole short blk. was junk, helicoils in the blk, the bore was already too big for his pistons, etc. i just hope it stays together.
On the meeting at Byhalia, it was great to see everyone again, and to put a face on a RABBIT, all great people, we'll have to do it again in the spring, maybe in May.
I wasn't feeling too good that nite and i was freezing (didn't bring enough clothes to stay warm), so i didn't do as much socializing as i should have, for that i appolagize and i want make the same mistake again.
I did make a movie of Tracy Smith's 5.92 run, the run before he broke a valve. It's the red Camero in the far lane, wheels up about 3 ft.
