HOW MANY CUBIC INCHES IS STOCK SBC 400 GOOD FOR,ALREADY AT 406,IT IS THE 4 BOLT MAIN BLOCK.

not realy good for much more there realy thin blocks and tend to crack and stroking it would put more stress on it

Built a .040 over 3.875 stroke 422 c.i...still going..But it was a 2 bolt That I converted to a splayed 4 bolt and filled.The factory 4 bolts arent that strong.Suggest a Dart SHP...
A stock 400 block can go with as much as a 4 " stroke 434...But its a gamble on how long it will last.Some do some dont.Friends last 3 years before it cracked down the cam tunnel/valley.
