Friend had a 355 with double humps 2.02/1.60 milled!! with around the same compression with a little better than stock bottom end but he had a proform 750 and a little bit bigger cam (solid roller herbert) and high rise intake he made around 500 hp to the flywheel.

Not even that much. JMO

I say not much over 300

P.S. Take that big carb off of it.It would run better with a 650 cfm

Sorry I upset you.

Just stating my opinion that 875 cfm is way more than a 355 ci engine needs. Especially one with double hump heads. The engine would be crisper and more fun to drive with a smaller carb. Unless you are spinning that thing 9000 rpm an 875cfm is too big.

It's your engine ....If you like it, I love it.

Tod,
You are 100% CORRECT!
My 1st thought was 350-375 But I was BEING Nice!
IF you think Is SCREAMING,then take it the Track and It will tell you DIFFERENT?
Put a 4776 Holley on It and it will Probably p/Up 3-5 Tenths!

Cant convince ol smurfy that though.
He swears up and down this monster carb is perfect for that baby motor.

Let him run what he's got, we cant make that motor better for him.
Not by sharing our honest opinions here on the forum which is what he is asking for when posting here.

Oh well

actually he was just asking for HP estimates.Didn't intend to turn it into a thread putting down his choice of carb.Sometimes I have trouble keeping my opinion to myself. As I said,if he likes it I love it. It's his engine.

I agree with Todd on the average set up like yours. However, it's impossible to give you an exact number without putting it on a dyno or at least knowing some #'s from the track. You just may have the 1 in a million 875cfm gulping motor that only needs 1 7/8" headers to make 700hp, but I may be way off that # too. 875cfm is about enough to run a mild 548.

If you didn't think you would get some good advise from guys that knew, you would not have ask so don't be rude to the guys that just answered your question and gave you their opinion and trying to help.

hey supersmurff your car will run alot better with a smaller carb (650 - 700) and even you header tube size is too large for your combeo probably a 1 5/8 or 1 3/4 inch tube would definitely give you more torque and Horsepower. just my thought. i race and i kinda know this stuff art

Those heads are ancient history. The carb is too much with the low compression and lack of cubes. JMO

I'd have to agree maybe 350 at most, fly h.P.After all a 355 I had several years ago made only 495 fly with 11.5 to 1,world product dart II ported and a 625 625 comp roller..that peak H.P 6900..That was with a good ol 750 DP....

THIS MOTOR MIGHT MAKE 475-575 HP AND CARB MIGHT STILL BE TO MUCH.

If this motor runs good on the 875, you're gonna need at least an 1,150 tripple pumper for the new motor.
When you get it done show us some pictures.

If you do go Dart Block, might as well get some more cubes with it...427 or bigger..My old 422 worked really well in my old vega wagon. 422 afr full cnc 227's(Jesel shaft rockers) dominator carb roller 640/648 267/276 @ .050 Super Victor with a 4150 to domin adaptor,13.5 to 1 went 9.20 @ 2750...

If an ordinary engine was installed in a Vette and run for a short time and then pulled out, would it then be a Vette engine? That is the only way I can figure that there are so many Vette engines out there!!! :P

There is a massive Corvette junkyard in the Western United States. It's exact location is a closely guarded secret.
It where abouts are known only to those that own late 70's or early 80's POS GM heaps.

I have to agree with Todd too...That is a big carb. You would have to shift between 7500 - 8000 rpms to take full advantage of a carb that size on a small block. Which would be dificult on even ported fuelie heads...

I have a 331 small block, 10.5-1 compression. AFR Heads 195CC, Team G, Holley 800 (I run it up to 7500 rpms) and comp cams mechanical lifter 250 duration at .050 lift and .555 lift....it only puts out about 425hp at the crank...which still works out to 12's on my all steal '72 nova!!!

hope this helps and good luck!

I agree with Todd too...you would have to run that engine up past 7500 rpms to take full advantage of that carb even with ported fuelie heads!

I have a 331 SBC... 10.75 to 1...AFR 195 CC Ported Heads, Team G intake , Holley 800 (I run it up to 7500 rpms) Comp Cams Solid Cam 250 @ .050 with .555 gross lift. I am making about 425 at the crank and thats with some pretty decent heads!

Hope this helps as a reference! Good luck!
