I can believe some nerve people have by killing babies or young children. I think that everybody that hurts a child needs to be hung.

Chris The father only had two scratches on his face, State Trooper took him straight to jail for DUI :!: What bothers me is why would someone risk their own kid for a beer :?: I have never understood that :!: If you want to drink do it at home damn it :!: That little boy had just started his life and in a split second it was taken away from him :!: :!: No little league ball games, no more running and jumping, no more tucking him in bed, never grow up to find out just what life is all about :!: :!:

UPDATE: Man Charged In Fatal Accident

A two-year-old boy is dead and his father facing charges after a crash in Damascus, Virginia this morning.

Virginia State Police say Philip Watson was charged for driving under the influence.

They say at 1:45 this morning he ran off the road and ended up hitting a tree on McCann Road.

His two-year-old son, Philip Ethan Watson was killed in that crash.

Police tell us this investigation is not over. They expect to place more charges against Watson early next week.

Know how you feel Mark , I am retired firefighter , medic...one of my first calls was a drunk ran over a 7 year old waiting for the school bus at 6.45 in morning....it was a good thing the law beat us there or my carear would have been cut short , I later became a deputy sheriff and never had a problem locking up a drunk , I always thought of that little girl...

Heavenly Father has 'special' plans for the likes of these........people.....
He's watching over the innocents by His side for eternity.

We have a local situation where an 8 year old boy was regularly and systematically beaten, tortured, and 'disciplined' over a period of a couple of years,...died.... Mom and boyfriend...260 pound knee drops onto the boy's chest and more 'disciplinary' actions..........subhumans-sub animals-......lower than any life form that God ever made.....

So sad. Hope the father spends the rest of his life in jail.
Being part of public service is a tough job in many ways. Not many stories have good endings or hero's in them.

Mark, sorry you had to go through that. The father will get his one way or another. He will have a tough time in prison when the other inmates find out what he is in for.
My wife had a few accidents with similiar outcomes during her 20 years as a deputy. I don't know how she did it at times.

That father will punish himself for the rest of his life.count on that. It's better he lived so he can endure knowing he killed his baby.Sometimes death is the easy way out.

Mark i feel for you, that had too be hard for sure. I ran into an old friend at the Post Office the other day and he ask me how the racing was going, i mentioned that all out tracks had closed, he said i'm not surprised at that, this state doesn't permote anything except alcohol, and that's the truth, La. is drinkest state i'm ever lived in my life. I'm amazed that tragdey don't strike more often than it does around here.

Mark,
I feel your pain my friend. I am a former Gaston County NC paramedic, peds ran me out very quickly. Like you Mark, I cried for what will be missed in that kids future. Constantly in your mind, wondering what could have been....... I carry 23 month old Brian Henry in my mind to this day after unsuccessfully trying to revive him......that was 1994, I didn't last but a few more months.....I think of Brian often. The circumstances are VERY, VERY different, but the anguish is the same. The father will pay many times over for his stupid decision. I know I would not be able to live another day bearing that weight.

Thank all of you for being so understanding, I will never forget the little guy for the rest of my life, It help's to talk about thing's like this sometimes. It's nice to have friend's like all of you to talk to about thing's such as this :!: Again i thank all of you.

That is a tragic loss, I feel for the family and you since you witnessed it first hand. Your a good man Mark for doing what you do. It does not go without appreciation, thank you.

Not many people can do that job, IMO firemen, paramedics, police officers should be some of the highest paid of any goverment jobs, but their not, its a big part of whats wrong with our country, we'll glady give a basketball player 100 million contract but someone who saves lives and put their life on the line to do so, barely makes 40k a year :!: \

A girl I used to know was a firefighter/emt and was going to school to be a Paramedic. She once told me they were called to an accident and there was a truck on fire.Said they couldn't get to the guy and they could hear him screaming from the flames. That would be hard to deal with for me.
