Honor Roll..??

I had to mark my corvette SOLD because I could not edit the Ad...I want to continue using the sight, "Which I personally think is a Load O' Fun."
Lotta' great folks on here you can meet up with!!
But whats the deal with the honor payment??? What are we supposed to do with that, I am New to this sight, so go easy on me...

The honor payment is a donation to RJ for selling anything on here. You dont have to put an honor payment if you dont want to.

Just to let you know a lot of people on here see if there have been honor payments made from people who sell items on RJ. It makes them look better due to being a donation type deal.

My personal opinion is, if you pay for an add why should I have to pay more when I sell the item? However, their are a lot of people that look at your honor payment history before they will buy from you.
BTW, I paid because of peer pressure! LOL

We don't track sales so we would never know if you ever did sell something but this way people can still donate to the site to keep it free for everyone.

Rabbit, I understand your thinking about paying for the ad, however if you look at your receipt, you will see that you never really pay for an ad. That line will always be a $0.00 value. You can pay for a membership that gives you more bells and whistles, higher ad placement, free photo galleries. Or you can pay for an upgrade such as Featuring it Premiering it, but that is the payment for these kinds of services. You never actually pay for an ad on our site. We wanted to make sure even if you were getting an upgrade you never had to pay for an ad.

In all cases the Honor Payment does help us keep the site free for everyone who may not have the money to sell an item on the site. Lets see if eBay can say the same. :)

I cannot imagine you chose voluntarily to NOT HONOR our country by NOT flying our flag on your banner over The 4th of July weekend! I am beyond belief you have the balls/audacity to fly the Mexican flag for their holiday but NOT OUT FLAG. Why is Mexico deserving of the sites respect but NOT OUR country? You should feel shame and humiliation for NOT HONORING (theres that honor thing again!) our country!

Not trying to discourage anyone from paying an honor payment, but I must be missing something.
I hardly ever sell anything, and even less often I would buy something. I have listed two things on RJ, one item last year (My old truck which I sold to a friend and still made an honor payment because it was still advertised on RJ) and a motor several years ago and both times I had to pay a fee ( I think it was $49 or $59 each time) to put the add on RJ. Again, I must be missing something. :oops: Are you saying I could have posted the add for free and if / when it sold made an honor payment. That would be kinda like a consignment deal wouldn't it??

I have posted and sold a few items on here and never had to pay anything up front. I did make an honor payment after selling it because if not for the site, I wouldn't have sold it. When you post an ad it asks you what you want to add as in advertising, you can choose the basic and it is free and you can add things that cost (both of which tell you whether it is free or cost money, it is up to you which to choose). So Yes, you could have posted it for free if you wanted. That is why I look at who makes honor payments and who don't when I am buying something. If someone shows they have an average selling price of whatever and no honor payments I usually keep going.

I personally have never made a honor payment, but them again I've never sold anything on here either, just traded, I do not consider a trade of equal value a sell.

But, if I ever did sell something, I probably would NOT make an honor payment anyway, it's 1% of the sale right? I hope you consider my contribution to this forum as my payment, IF I were to sell anything.

Now dont get me wrong, I love this site, I met some really cool people and made some life long friends on here, not to mention getting my 69 camaro on here, so for all that, I'm eternally grateful.


Now, about that flag deal.

Thanks for having my back! Just seems to me lots of folks in OUR country seem to have some disdain for our American heritage! If you don't/won't fly OUR flag, then why do you live in OUR country? In my opinion this is your way of "spreading MY wealth" among the folks that won't pay!

I had not been on in awhile, this flag thing annoys the hell out of me. I am tired of people saying we shouldn't do this or that due to the fact we might offend someone. How about the fact that it offends Us that we are told we can't do something. Either way someone is offended so why should it be us. I am all for people that want to come here for a better life as long as they do it the right way and accept this country the way it is. If they have so much damn pride in their own country why in the hell don't they haul their ass back. I am not saying someone living here can't have pride in where they came from but don't try to tell me I can't because it offends you. It all comes down to each his own, do what you want but leave me the hell alone. As far as the honor payment thing, I just never minded paying it because if I want to post something in the paper or sales adds here where I live it costs to post it. Even on a trade, if you feel like you came out with a good deal and it transpired off of this site then why not make one. This is just my opinion, not saying everyone should feel the same way.

On the "honor payment" deal, quite frankly though, with all the scammers out there, I do little to no deals on the internet. The only things I have bought or sold on RJ, have been thru private messages on the forum. The ONLY people I'll deal with, on the internet, are people I already know. If I owe an honor payment for that, I'll gladly pay to keep the site open, I ain't willing to pay, so someone else, gets a free ride.

1. The site is free, you can upgrade to a Club Membership that gives you a lot of benefits over the free membership but that's optional.

2. You can post for free on the site and NEVER make an honor payment. I'm sure it happens all the time, and we are fine with that. We ask that you make a DONATION if you think the site was helpful, this helps us keep the site running. Again optional. It's not mandatory (The Rabbit - you never pay for an ad - you will see any upgrade you do, that line item is always $0.00, you might be paying for an upgrade, but not for the ad)

4. If you really must know, even though I live in a Blue state, I did vote McCain and Palin. So please stop the attacks, however I know everyone has the right to say what they want, so I am completely fine with any shots I take. It's part of our great country to be able to say anything. I'm just letting you know how I voted. I'm not anti American. I like to have fun in everything I do. We even have Cinco De Mustache every Feb 5th in the office. Look at the pictures in my profile I wear costumes around the office, I find a way to make every day events fun.

5. Our Great Country and Our graphics. First off, how many of you have purchased the History Channel's awesome 12 part series "America, the story of us" I'm not talking watched it, I'm talking BOUGHT IT, well I have, its an awesome story of America. And it makes you proud to be an American.

I was just in an airport and no matter who I saw in uniform I walked up to them and thanked them for defending our freedom by their service.

Old Glory is the only flag that is hanging off my house right now.

(I think you now all know where I'm going with this and I've given you enough about my personal background to justify our country, but I'm more than happy to explain anything if you need me to in the future)

I have let our graphics team know that even though there is a flag in others to please come up with something that has the flag in this one for next year. They will come up with something.

I do appreciate the comments to the site, or I would have never responded, but please don't think that because there is or is not a graphic on the site it means one thing or another. It's just a graphic. We are only having fun with the logo at certain times of the year. We are not purposely leaving out anyone or anything, but we thank you for your feedback and our graphics team is looking into making sure there is a flag on next years logo.

Like I tell my daughter all the time. "No need to go into a room swinging for the fence when all you have to do is ask." We are here and we are listening, so a friendly comment is good enough for us.

Thanks for the explanation PJ, it's about time! The "I been outa town" excuse doesn't flush here though. You certainly had time to explain the honor system while you were out of town! Were you in the office then? Or did you answer from your laptop?
Don't take so long before explaining next time, your job is to make things run nice and smooth for RJ, you dropped the ball on the flag issue.
