Building a motor for a 69 Chevy pick up weekend warrior street truck pump gas. 350 block bored .0060 over. It has flat tops 3 3/4 stroke. CR figures 9.8 to 1
I have heard that this block tends to run hot with a +60 bore. second question, will this engine require an over size oil pan? My 383 lost oil pressure at about 5000 rpm before I put an after market pan.

I've run .060" over blocks and as long as the cooling system is up to par, they've never ran any hotter than any other.
The stock pan will be fine as long as a standard volume oil pump is used.

I would definitely sonic test the block. JMO

depending on the block number .060 over can be a lil weak on a stock block, also depending on the clock number u may need a deep pan, #880 needs a deep pan but 010 and 547 dont

I think he was asking if he needed extra oil pan capacity to prevent loss of oil pressure at higher rpm's. ..not weather or not the pan would clear the crank.

I have a 383 LT1 and with the stock pan it would lose oil pressure at about 5000rpm, the moroso 8 quart pan solved that problem, so we went ahead and ordered one. I am glad to hear that it does not have real cooling issues at 60 over. This engine will be a street truck. Thanks for all the replies.
