Heres the Deal?
427 T/Deck GM Block.
NO O-Ring Grooves, this Motor was in a Nost.Funny Car,and Ran Pretty GOOD!But,with Only 8-Passes on the Combo its a Hard Call?
Currently I have a set of Merlin 345 Iron Heads(VERY HEAVY)but a Good Head for a Blower Combo!
Heres My Delema?
This is going in my 95 S10 Back/Half Truck, standard Cab,so theres NO Room to Slide the Motor back!
I have a chance to pick up a Nice set of Edelbrock Chapman Heads (ALU)so that about a 150lb Swing.
The Motor had a set of Cometic Gaskets, that were sealing just FINE!
If I go with the Alu.Heads?
Will the Cometics be the Ticket?
OR?
O-Ring the Block and go COPPER?
Which is the Way I all my Old Motors were. But?That was before these Cometics were Invented?
Any Thoughts?
Thanks!

Look into SCE titan head gaskets. Copper with seal ring made into them. No need for o ring groove and have silicone beading around water holes.

So,My take so far is go with the SCE Copper Gaskets over the Cometics, with Aluminum Heads.
THANKS fo the Input,Fellows!

I did not mean to down grade the Cometic gaskets. In fact I ordered a set today. I was just trying to offer an alternative to having to o ring the block.

The Cometics do require a very precise, fine finish deck surface on the heads and block to work. They do work fine if that is done.
