we just bought a dragster,,that has a 16 volt battery.my question is..do i need a 16 volt or 12 volt Alt. and do i use a 16 volt or 12 volt charger ??

You would need both a 16v alt and a 16v charger...the chargers arent cheap.
I have 16v in my new to me dragster.. it turns over my 582 very very easy.
