I know insurance will not cover an on-track drag racing accident. However, I believe you can get insurance to cover; theft, fire, storm damage, collision in the trailer on the interstate, etc.

So, who has insurance on their drag car? And, with what company and how much does it cost? I've got a lot of money invested in my tube-chassis car and probably couldn't replace it ($$,$$$.$$) if a tornado here in Oklahoma blew it away. I’ve heard of racers getting caught out in a storm and having their trailers blown-over. Also, theft always worries me when I'm on the road racing and have to stay at motels.

I've got my enclosed trailer insured with my auto insurance company, but didn’t want to mention drag racing to them. Besides, the tube-chassis car doesn’t have a VIN or title.

I have my 32' enclosed trailer, complete with all tools and 240" PSP dragster insured with Competition Insurance. The premium for both is $835 a year. It covers everything, as long as the engine in the car is not running. I am in Canada, so I don't worry much about tornados. I worry mostly about theft, vandalism and fire.

I have my car insured through USAA for CHEAP... like really cheap. I told them it was a 4th car in a family that has two drivers. It's vin indicates a 6 cylinder... they did not ask me what engine it had. I put special interest plates on it so I never had to tag it again (85.00). So if I want to take it to a cruise, I can do so. If I were to wreck it @ the strip, I would probably be screwed though.

I know there is somebody on Yellowbullet that sells insurance for on the track. I cant remember his name of hand but it might be good to try and get a hold of him to see what they all cover.

I ended-up insuring my tube-chassis drag car with Hagerty Insurance. They work on an agreed amount concept and it is about $9.50 per grand annually. So, an agreed amount of 30K would cost you about $285.00 a year. Not a bad deal at all!

Curtis,

Just turn-out to burn-out, no down the track! As you know, here in Oklahoma, probably the greatest race car treat is the weather. We had one racing family (the Whites) here in the OKC area that lost their shop, two race cars, trailer and tow vehicle in a tornado.
