Well I finally have it about done. Went from a 408 sbc to a 496 bbc. Rewired it, New guages, Wheels, Tires, Shifter, Hood (still needs painted) and installed a grille in the glass nose. Been a real busy winter but worth it, I think.

Thanks guys! I am pretty happy with how its turning out. I am hoping the 496 will be more consistant and a little faster than the 408.

Yeah G they are the weld 2.0's I love the look of them but they were almost 1300 with tires and tax, Oh well its only money right...lol... Thats what I tell the wife anyway.

I am not a big block fan since I have only owned one other and it was a junk 468 that only lived 22 passes. I got a good deal on this 496 and it was built right and has good parts in it. Its 14:1, .714 roller, gm 990 heads. Should run 9.70's or 80's I hope in my 3200 pound boat. Well see in about a month I guess.

You couldnt pay me to build a big block...

Everybody has their own preference though.

To me, Small blocks are for Racing and Big blocks are for Towing.

Just my .02 :o :o :o

Sucks when someone digs up an old post, but it sure was funny.

Thanks, I put the grille in just for the look. It had one of those decals that I think looked like poop. It cooled good before and I really didnt notice much difference. I run 16 volts which makes my cooling system work excellent.

Here is a before with the sticker...

Yeah Josh, the post-Grill looks much better, good job. She retains more of her Nova glory that way.
