Todd Cowan (Cowan Motorsports) of Grand Rapids Michigan  and I had a deal for me to buy a motor that he had listed on racing junk, I had talked to him on Feb 3, about the motor, and he agreed to a deal, He was going to be going to Daytona, so I said I would call him when he was back to arrange picking up and paying for the motor after he was home.

I called on Wednesday the 16 of Feb, and left a message, he did not call me back, I call on Thursday the 17 early in the afternoon, and left another message, I then called again later, and he actually answered the phone, then said the another person had called this week about the motor, and could he call me back, I said yes.

He calls me back in a half hour, and says he is going to sell the motor to this other guy, he is local and making it worth his time, and that we had a deal, at this point in the conversation I hung up on him, he wasnt worth talking to anymore.

If you see anything on here for sale by Todd Cowan, be wary, he doesnt honor deals, and isnt trustworthy.

I am confused  First we need an ad #. You say March 3??? Surely you mean Feb 3. You then say he was going to sell the motor to another guy who is local and making it worth his time and in the same sentence you say he said you had a deal  ??? Please clarify. Thanks for posting and welcome to the Forum

I don't see where this is a scam, although I would like to know why a man would break his word. I sent him a message, lets see if he responds.

This is a scam how?

I’m not sure that this is even worth my time… see dbmtrapgold just started posting (4 total posts) to slam me.

This person, Dan. Did in fact call me before Daytona those facts are right (even though his spelling and grammar are not) he called and left two messages; I then called him back and told him someone made a better offer and the person was a local friend. Well that is as far as I got in our conversation because he hung up the phone on me; showing his maturity level. In my mind any chance he had of making a deal with me was gone. And so I thought that was the end. He never said anything besides “hello” last night on the phone. So now he posts something on here about it… I wonder why he didn’t have the balls to say something then?

Anyway I have requested the forum moderators to remove this thread. It’s clear this guy is just mad. It is not my responsibility to sell anything to anyone. He didn’t get the engine, he never even put money down on it.

End of story, it is not in my best interest to worry about this guy or anyone else. My main concern is myself; I’m sure everyone can understand that. Thanks to Hollowayshotrods for the email to tell me this thread exists.

Funny I just called this guy again and he hung up on me again. I have never even sold anything through this website, we sell most stuff locally, so I'm not concerned with what this guy posts...

Men,
My suggestion to both of you is quite simple. We all know someone is not telling the truth, I have no idea who. I would let this go in an instant!
Look at the number of folks that have read this thread, not many. Should this continue many more folks will associate both of you guys to this thread. Believe me, it WILL affect your sales! Don't think so? Ask Keith Caudill aka traderguy aka rodsrus what the exposure has done for him! Do you really want/need that? Nobody lost money, nobody got hurt.......

Salvage whatever you can out of this, but without seeing the words WRITTEN (emails), it is a he said/he said situation. I am done with this thread, there are scammers that need to be eaten :!: :x
Good luck.

I gotta go with Dan on this one boys........Todd, in my opinion, after the email you sent me (see below), you are not an honorable person! You made a deal, should have stuck to it. You are the perfect example of a whelcher. Don't pm me, be a bigboy and come in here for all to see, and yes, I do know you don't care what we think, you told us. Most less than honorable people tend to feel that way, but I am sure that is no suprise to you.

Yes TheTodd96  , that certainly answered my question.

I broke the deal because it is my right to. Does that answer your question?

Also can you remove Dan's post that has my phone number? You seem to be acting as some kind of moderator; is that your position? If not do you know the moderators? I have sent them an email and I would like to contact them, preferably via phone. Thanks

Todd

Sharks have no authority to do that, wouldn't have a clue how to remove someone elses thread, besides, hell would freeze over before I removed the thread or phone number that shows someone being less than honorable! Moderator? Hell no, I don't have the patience with folks that bjuice has! PM him, I am sure he will give you his phone number after reading this thread, I have no doubt he would love to talk to you.

Verbal Contract Information

One of the most complicated problems that attorneys in contract law deal with is the verbal contract. Movie mogul Samuel Goldwyn is reported to have once said, "Verbal contracts aren''t worth the paper they''re printed on." Although they are notoriously difficult to regulate, state and federal laws regarding verbal contracts do exist, and can help to ensure the enforcement of a verbal contract.

If you are involved in a dispute over a verbal contract, you need to ensure that your legal rights are protected. Please contact us today for a free consultation with an experienced contract lawyer who can help you understand your legal rights and options.

Three Elements of a Verbal Contract

In order to be considered valid, a verbal contract must contain three elements: offer, acceptance, and consideration.

• Offer: The person making the offer in a verbal contract must communicate their intent to enter into a contract. A verbal contract is not considered valid if all parties do not agree to the terms of the offer. Also, verbal contracts are only valid for a specified period of time and not indefinitely.

• Acceptance: A verbal contract is not valid until the offer is accepted. The acceptance of a verbal contract occurs when the person to whom the contract is offered voluntarily indicates agreement to its terms and conditions.

• Consideration: In addition to an offer and acceptance, verbal contracts must contain consideration. This means that each side must give the other something of value for the agreement to be binding. In most verbal contracts, this is an exchange of money, such as a down payment. However, in some cases, it is not money but a promise that is exchanged.

Verbal Contract Law

Verbal contracts are a convenient and commonly used form of agreement between two parties. However, the main problem with a verbal contract is that if any problems should arise and there were no witnesses to the agreement, the case is reduced to one party''s word against another''s. Even if verbal contract law is followed, a verbal contract is often easily contested.

The best way to ensure that your contract will be binding is to consult with a legal professional who can help you understand the law and determine your options. If you are involved in a dispute over a verbal contract, a qualified contract lawyer can help you maximize your legal rights and interests . Please contact us today to speak with an experienced contract attorney near you.

You just confirmed you broke a contract, Genius.

I'd come after you simply on principle and to see the look on your face.

Could you please make and break a deal with me? Pretty please.

So... what now Todd???

1. Run like a coward?? -Or- 2. Get on here one last time & blow out w/ a final insult to everyone ("You guys have nothing better to do", "too much drama here", "you bunch of forum-bashers", etc... blah blah blah) maybe that will make you feel better at night. I am guessing you will pick #2 option.

Which one??? You suck & are a flake. You said it well: "My main concern is myself"... that's great... see how far that gets you when you default on a deal that blows up in your face w/ the wrong guy. You will end up in three places: the ground, court, or maybe jail. Keep diggin' genius.
