I am starting to look around for a BBC 427 tall deck truck motor to use for my spare setup.
The crank and block is what I want.
What years had forged cranks and 4 bolt main?
thanks,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

This site list the casting #'s for the 4 bolt main blocks, i think all the 4 bolt main truck blocks had a steel crank but not sure..

All 366 - 427 truck tall deck blocks had 5140 forged cranks for heavy duty use in 2 ton trucks.
These are not as strong as current 4340 forged cranks however. And they are 20? years old before you get to them. The real value of a tall deck block for bracket racing is to use a 4.250" srtoker crank and make a 496. Also the free 4 bolt mains. Remember they cause header clearance issues in stock chassis cars and aftermarket heads with raised exhaust ports make it more so.

Do 366 blocks use the same block core?
can they be bored to 4.310?

Leave the 366's in the junk yard. Only thing that is of use is the crank. Core size is smaller than 427.

x2. You would have to sleeve it to get to 4.25 (or more)
