In need of a 302 race block

I am in the process of building a fox body mustang to start racing. I have a couple of stock blocks but i am not sure about putting the scat 347 kit i have into a stock block. I also do not want to put the machine time and money into the stock block for it to be worn out in a few months. If any one has any suggestions as to where i can find a good block for an honest price please let me know. I am also interested in any kind of 351 Cleveland parts or info thanks.

Not a Ford person, but the Dart SHP block will go to 800 HP, available in 302 or 351 versions.Below is an ebay listing, not cheap, but free shipping. Carl/Hink may be able too do you better.

A stock 302 block can be a option with a main stud girdle upgrade.
If you dont, it will split right down the middle if you start making any decent HP. 350/400 is pusing it in stock trim.

My suggestion to you would be to find a seasoned 351W block, they are much stronger than the little brother 302, plus your starting out with 351 cubic inches, put a stroker crank in it and you'll have you a nice 400, then my friend, you'll be cooking with crisco.
I'd skip on the cleavland thought, getting hard to find them babies, plus finding good heads? forgetaaboutit.

You might look into the Dart SHP block and build a 363 cid engine using one of their blocks as you can buy thier 302 block with a 4.125 bore.

I would agree with cepx111 and I am a Ford guy. Start with a 351w and you can get a lot out of a stock block. I had built a stock windsor block with a stock crank and cleveland heads that was making around 600 hp. I will admit that was on the edge of what those parts were capable of but it held up fine.

Thanks for all the help everybody and the dart block sounds good now i just got to figure out how to spend that much with out the my better half findin out
