Custom builder Billy Lane is using his skills while in prison on a vehicular homicide conviction – maintaining Florida Department of Corrections vehicles.
The shop owner who appeared on the Discovery Channel's “Biker Build-Off” was assigned to the corrections motor pool four months ago, according to Florida Today.
He’s serving a six-year sentence, followed by three years of probation, for a 2006 traffic accident in which authorities said Lane, with his blood alcohol at twice the legal limit, crossed a double-yellow line to pass another motorist and hit an oncoming biker head on, killing him.
A judge also ordered his driver's license suspended for life, along with random drug and alcohol testing after his release from prison.
