:? ,

I think he is asking how tight to to make the bolts on the cam gear. If that the case the bolts are 5/16"X24, and should be torqued to 25 lbs.

I just make sure mine has a very slight amount of movement...I have no way of mounting an idicator on it with the cover on...can't get to it from the back on my engine stand.

Tod74,you do this by wiping a little grease in the inside of the the timing cover and the timing button, you than stick a little ball of modeling clay on the button, torque down the cover, remove the cover ,than check the thickness of the clay with your micrometer and keep shaving the button until you are where you want to be,thats how I do mine anyway.

Watch out for gasket thickness, i've seen gaskets as thick as .030 and some as thin as .010. I just measured one gasket that was .027 thick and another that was .013 tk.
That is if you're running a gasket
Also don't use a stock thin sheet metal cover that will flex.

That makes it real easy then, all you have to do is determine how many threads per 1" is on the adjuster. Example if it's 5/16"X 24 Divide 24 into 1.000 and that will tell you how much to back the adjuster out once you adjust it to "0" against the button. Example 24 would be .041, so you would back it out 1/8 of a turn for .005 clearance.

hope this helps.
