Other then being wore out what would cause a dizzy gear to have exsessive were?
this is none high performance 4.3l gm with 200,000 miles, roller cam

How would one determine what is excessive wear on something that has 200,000 miles?

of all the intakes I've pulled off I never seen a gear with teeth worn allmost all the way off

I'm going to take a stab at this one, i'm guessing the timing chain is very loose and getting a lot of bouncing around, also take a look at the cam gear it may be just as bad.

i agree--a loose timing system can play havoc with a distributor :oops: :oops:
change it all :shock: :shock: :shock:

yes
I looked at the cam I do see some marks on it,so I'm sure it's all junk.

:idea:I would say at 200.000 miles the whole engine is at the end of the line :wink:
