I have a problem with my carb.I have a 477 bbc with 13.1 comp,278-286 solid roller with bb2 heads,and a George ruppert 1050 alky dominator,with a magnafuel 500 fuel pump.Car runs 10.0@135
The carb came with 174 jets.George told me "do not go any bigger than 177.My problem is that my car lays over on top, and after the 1/4 mile and letting off the throttle and crusing to the end the car wants to shut off,i have to pump the throttle alot to get it running againit sounds like the bowls are drained.also, i now have 200 jets in the carb and my egts are 1249, i started at 174s and went up from there.
Do i need to put the 177 back in with smaller air bleeds?would that get my egts where they should be?

If you are really having the fuel bowls empty on the top end then I can tell you that bigger jets will just make the problem worse. You need to work on fuel delivery if that really is your problem.

You have to keep fuel to the carb to determine if you have a carb problem. It sounds like a fuel pump/psi issue, not in the carb.

Sounds to me like you have a AIR Leak>?
Intake gasket?
A Hole that the Fuel can keep up with, would also make sence whys it Dies on the Other End,Hard Starting,ETC....?

with alky egts should be around 105o to 1150 pressure on alky with rupert carb should be around 10 psi you really need a belt driven pump makes all the differance in the world.

Call down and talk to George or Willie. We run belt drive and we are at 3 at idle and I believe when we did the check fof down track it was around 9. George will tell you where to be with your pump.

rupert doesn't like for you to tweek his carbs. dito on 3lbs ile but I ran mine to 10 but 9 should do fine . friend had big berrygrant electric pump on his dragster when he went to alky he said it felt like it was laying over on top we put my belt drive on it picked it up 3 hts. in the 1/8

Call BLP and get yourself an internal bypass belt driven pump....they are so simple and easy.
