i would stay away unless something happens to change my Mind.I see this all the time and was curious about it.I was under the impression that it was up to you if you make a honor payment and not a requirement.Am I wront on this.I support racing junk by paying my 49-50 dollars a year I just wasnt aware that the honor payment decided whether you are a honest person or not.

The honor payment is an option to the seller, but my GOD if they can't afford to donate 1% to Racing Junk for letting them advertise and sell thier item for them doesn't say much about the person. JMO

Thats the one and only complaint I have with this site.Granted,if one has sold items, and particularly multiple items, honor payments are most certainly in order. However,if one has never been successful at selling anything here,I don't see where an honor payment should be expected to prove a person's honesty and credibility. After all, there has been no transaction for which to be "honest and credible" for.
I'm sure plenty out there have sold and not made the payment, possibly even most have and not paid, but there's also a few of us around that have never sold the first thing here.I have, however, made two auto trades from the site. Both of which ended with my ass blazin,LOL.Don't misinterpret what I'm getting at.I most certainly do not blame racingjunk for those deals. They were both caused by haste, poor judgement and the other parties being shady. But,I most definately wasnt left feeling like I owed anyone for the pleasure(displeasure?) of those two deals! The guys here in the forum are the best bunch I have ever had the pleasure of talking with, especially when it comes to trying to right a wrong.I do love the site and spend as much or more time in the forum,at least reading the posts, although I dont post a lot lately, than I do in the classifieds. As I said in the beginning, the whole"he's not honest because he hasn't made an honor payment" thing is the one and only thing that I don't like about the site.Otherwise,it's the best place on the net!
This is just my humble opinion, you guys have definately bent over backwards to try and help me in the past, and I sincerely hope I haven't offended anyone.

Oh,by the way,I too saw the wing slonova has up for sale. It's a heck of a deal,if everything works out.I almost contacted him myself, but I figured it'd be too much of a hassle to re-work it to fit my Malibu. If anyone has or knows someone with one to fit my car, holler at me,please.

Lol.. I Love how some of you Guys read something and draw Your own Conclusions...lol.
Show me in my original post where i said this man was Dis-Honest because No Honor payments have been Made on his account ?...and GSFORLESS you put your Comment in " " Marks meaning you were quoting someone ...who were you Quoting ?...sure as Heck wasn't me..
RJ is one of the few Free advertising sites around...and i will guarantee most People on the classifieds are taking full advantage of this with No Honor payments OR Membership dues....for those who pay your membership..AWESOME JOB !..its people like US the reason why we have a FREE SITE.
Racingjunk doesn't require an HONOR payment.....But the Word HONOR PAYMENT speaks for itself....its an HONOR THING ..
If you purchased, Sold, or traded thru this site and your deal was because the Site Hooked you Up...thennnnnnnnnn...i say No More...Racingjunk doesn't say you have to pay anything....but they do ask you to call Upon your Honor or in other words do what you feel is Right and ACT UPON IT.....the call is Up to you.....the 1% is only suggestion.
Just because a person doesn't make an honor payment doesn't mean they are Dis-honest...but i can say without a doubt if someone goes over and beyond and makes an Honor payment its a good indicator for someone who doesn't know them that they are a Honest person to deal with.
Besides OZZ came in here looking for Help...he was gven some Good advise on things to look for..its up to him how he goes about it.
Bottom Line Honor means different things to different people.
Below is what is said on the Honor payment page...it pretty much explains it so all can understand the Honor payment on RJ

Why Make an Honor Payment?
The Trust Factor.
Honor payments build trust all around.
•We don't ask for an honor payment until you've made your sale and actually received payment from your purchaser.
•Once you've made an honor payment, you can rate the person you sold to and they can rate you. Making an honor payment lets you build your seller rating, which builds up your reputation with buyers. More about our RATING SYSTEM.

IMO a free site is one that you dont have to pay anything to join just like this site is. You pay a membership only if you want to. I paid my membership so when I do sell things on here I can give a better discription of what it is I am selling. Will I pay the honor payment? Yes I will. I might even pay more than the 1% that is suggested.

bjuice,I was merely quoting a statement that I made myself at the beginning of my post for emphasis.I did not imply that you had said anything along the lines of honesty and credibility, those were my words,so no need to be defensive, although, the honor payment "theme" seems to be the first thing some of you guys mention(in some topics, not all)regardless of the situation. And again,I most certainly do NOT feel obligated to pay an "honor payment" on a deal that went like the only experiences I have had here.
I certainly mean no disrespect to the mods or anyone else in this forum. In fact,I'd say the forum is the best part of the site(given my dealing experiences here).
As I said before, the guys on this forum are very quick to offer help when a deal goes bad,and although it often goes unmentioned,I'm sure it's greatly appreciated. It is by me,at least.

As far as "Hi-jacking" someone's thread,I see that that's where this went.It kinda got off the subject, and I apologize for myself and anyone else who participated in that. After all,I'm sure we ALL have been guilty at some point,of posting something that wasn't pertinent to the subject matter in a particular topic.
As far as any other comments, you or I made in this thread, they're all a matter of opinion,no offense taken, and certainly none intended. Is that not what a forum is intended for?Sharing opinions?
I take nothing personal here, and I do check in from time to time to see if there is anything going on locally that I may be able to help out with.
I do have a lotta respect for the way you guys pursue the wrong-doers out there. There was nothing disrespectful intended on my part.

I wouldn't recommend dealing with this guy on several reasons.
1 He has no phone number listed.
2 He won't respond to you.
3 Been a "Basic Member" since 01/25/04 SINCE the doors opened here at Racing Junk.
4 No honor payments,no "Club Membership"
For the life of me I'd have to say this is his "First Sale" LOL
Personally his account speaks volumes.

There is a chance you "might" lose your hard earned money. And by the sounds of your post,I go buy from a reputable seller or vendor and save yourself some heartaches.

PS.
I'd also agree 100% to what Brian has said,he prety much knows the ropes around here and also is a great buyer and seller here at RJ.
Here is a chance to see what a real honest to goodness RJ club member and honor paying member he is.

Sorry for getting back off topic, but since the thread took this turn, I'll join in. I am a 'nonpaying member'. Have been since I joined. I made 6 honor payments on the 6 items I have sold in that time. This has been brought up before, so no need for the repeat pms guys, I'm not taking it personal. I just feel that if the site asks for an honor fee, I pay it. Now, if it requires a membership fee, I don't generate enough sales to justify it, for me. But if it was membership fee only, then all that should be on the site is ads by the members, no banner or sponsor ads. Those revenue generators are what helps make the site 'free'. And, I don't list a phone number as I work long odd hours, and when I listed a number saying between 8 am and 3 pm central, calls at 6:am, 7:30 pm, etc ended that. If someone is interested in something I have (no adds now ) I give them a number in my reply to them or ask for theirs. I have unlimited nationwide calling, so it costs them nothing.
Not all of us 'freeloaders' with no contact numbers are scammers...

I too pay my dues... but I never sell anything (pack rat). I bought one car off of here before I started paying dues, but nothing else. I would like to believe that if I did, I would be able to be trusted... even though I have never had any sales/honor payments. On the flip side, if I did sell something, I would be looked as a risk due to no honor payments???

....no you wouldn't would be looked at as a Risk if you paid No honor payments...
But you would certainly be viewed as someone who went above and beyond....from potential Buyers point of view
Put it this way and try to imagine this situation..and answer truthfully
You are looking at a Carb you want to purchase for $800.00...two people have the identicial Carb for sale.... both sellers live 2500 miles from you..
here is the break down on both Sellers...BE HONEST AND TELL ME WHICH SELLER YOU WOULD GO WITH.
Seller #1- basic "Free Account", no honor payments, been a free member for 3 years and will not list a Phone #. No feed back,
posted a picture of the Carb from a magazine
Seller #2- a Yearly Club paying member, has made 10 honor payments, been a member for 6 years, Listed a cell phone and a Home phone, has Positive feeback from prior sales on Racing Junk.....and has posted 4 or 5 actual pictures of the carb.
Now..taking the above information as it is...who are you going to send your $800.00 dollars to first ?.

true but unfortunatley we ain't talking about our Buds here on the forum in most cases..i would not think twice about purchasing from many of our forum family. i have had the opportunity to meet a few guys from the Forum. i sold Cris bowtie454 a 406 SBC 4 years ago,...He paid me a deposit on the engine and came back a month or so later and paid the rest and got the engine....since then he came back to my House with this Vega and i helped him get the engine fired and help set him up with some headers getting made ,,while he waited...He and his little Girl sat in Our home and ate Dinner with me ,my Wife and little girl.

No Brainer... #2. I see your point. It is just that I am here, I pay, & I like to think I am an honest guy too. The fact is, I buy Summit/Jegs alot out of habit. I suppose that I need to do some buisness here to get the trust w/ the credentials to back it up. I think if I were buying something here, I would look to those that I know first.... all my friends on the forum. After that, I would be scared if I had to trust somone I did not know. Anyways, It is the world we live in nowdays... man's "word" is not the same as it used to be. Scoot

....no you wouldn't would be looked at as a Risk if you paid No honor payments...
Be Honest

I must have missed something. (Nothing new for me. lol). How is this site free? I hardly ever sell anything, but did have a motor listed on RJ a few years ago. I paid for the add. To be honest I don't think I should have pay an addition honor payment when I had to pay for the add. I don't sell or buy enough to ever need an account on any site. Seldom will I buy anything used.
BTW, I hate E Bay! Tried it once and it's just to many games for a simple guy to use!
I think this is the best group of guys on any forum I've been on (which is only a few.) which is why I hang around here so much.
Not trying to be rude, Just trying to find out what I'm missing.

Another lumping of honest folks in with the scammers. As posted earlier, I don't list my number due to the fact people can't follow directions. Posting in the ad to call during certain hours is ignored by a good many buyers. So, does that make All buyers DUMBASSES, since not listing a phone number makes all of those who chose not to LAMEASSES? You are correct, this is 2009, that is why most people now use the internet...
